Im still trying to get what u mean, and I really mean it!
But, I just cant bring myself to understand what u mean by ignoring it, when their biggest sign/trade was WR1 and 1st draft pick biggest OL need.
Here's what's been turned over in a year:
2 of the 3 top WR spots
3 of the 5 top OL spots
1 of the 2 top TE spots
2 of the 3 top RB spots
Moore was a 1st-round-equivalent acquisition. Claypool was too (#32 pick) but let's say a 2nd. Wright was a top-10 pick.
That's 2 1sts and a 2nd right there.
Fields has enough around him that there's no more excuses. Not asking for miracles here but he's gotta convincingly take that next step. He has enough. No more excuses. And saying "the Bears ignored the O" is an excuse.
Brining in a backup TE is not really turnover.
3 of the top 5 OL spots? Nate Davis and Wright. You counting Whitehair moving to C? As if that isn't b/c of an injury; like that was the move they wanted to make? Stretching.
D'onta isn't an improvement, he's a cheap alternative incase they couldn't get a RB in the draft; which they did. Dude hasn't had an 800 yard season since 2017, Monty has only had 800 yard seasons. D'onta has had 3 years since 2016 of 300+ yards receiving. Monty has only had 1 year under that, and that was his rookie year.
And you thinking Fields has enough around him is just pathetic. Moore is the only stud on that side of the ball outside of Fields. Jones could be, but we should all know 1 good year on the OL is not a stamp of longterm approval. Mooney's had a good year, again could be, but you cannot assume after an injury he's going to return to form, a form he wasn't set to repeat last year.
Claypool had his replacement drafted, and already overtaken him before the trade deadline last year, he's not special, he's not worriesome to a def he doesn't change what a def will do to stop the Bears; same w/Mooney. Those guys are depth pieces on teams plying for a SB. Same w/Kmet and his backup. Same w/D'onta.
Fields has what Mitch had, a dude, and running backs; and an OL that is far from complete considering the C they want starting is hurt, and 1 starting OG is always hurt. Next year they've got another OG and C they'll need to draft, another WR likely another TE and likely they'll need to upgrade anothe WR in FA. Ya he has enough, if you're happy w/8-9 win seasons and a mid tier O.
Last year 7 of the top 10 passing O's made the playoffs, 5 of of the top 10 running O's did. 3 of those passing teams made it to the championship round, 1 running teams did. 2 of those top passing teams were in the SB, 1 of the top running teams was, that also means that the 1 running team in the championship game was also a top passing team.
The running team didn't win the SB. Ya'll are happy about def and running when the league, as we all have acknowledged is a qb and passing league. The team has spent more in capital on Def and OL then on WR's and TE's. and you're happy; but the NFL is built around QB's WR's and TE's.
3 of the top 10 defenses were in the playoffs last year 3 and y'all are all worried bout def. 1 made it to the championship game, they also made it to the SB, and they lost. Y'all are worried about the wrong shit. Def, running doesn't do anything for teams anymore. The NFL Rules have limited their effectiveness at best. Next year Y'all should root for the Bears to draft their return man in the 2nd round also b/c ST's is still big here apparently along w/def and 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
*slight correction, def per yards, top ppg def's is still very important, but the end result remains, O won, not running, not def, QB and his targets.
