I think it's just a matter of time when we sign Ngakoue.
Since he's lasted this long in FA maybe they're putting him on ice as part of their negotiating strategy.
Poles wasn't shy on trading down early to make sure he got exactly what he wanted so I assume that if he really wants Ngakoue and thought there was a real risk of losing him, he would have done something by now.
I absolutely LOVE that. I don't know if Fields is "The Guy" yet. I hope he is. But what we are seeing here is a young/rookie GM and his young QB working together. That relationship is often ignored between GM and franchise QB. But I like seeing it here. This is NOT a QB demanding stuff (like an Aaron Rodgers) but more of a healthy relationship of respect. Fields has received some good additions to his supporting talent on offense for 2023. The offense is obviously not a finished product by any means. There is real work to be done in 2024. But Fields has gotten some good help this year. So far I like what I see in Poles, Eberflus and Fields. These healthy working relationships matter.

I joined a subscription Bears group and one of their "sticky" posts is a link to this tweet from Jacob Infante. This occurred when I was "on vacation" from Bear fandom and was not familiar with all the details regarding this trade.
