Well 100 is well gone after Moore, we looking at 75 rn, that is not that much as we need 5-6 new starters at OL and front 7 right now. Lets not forget we have important extensions possible, Mooney, Kmet, Johnson. We need to be wise and spread the $$. Regarding slot, we now have at least 2 quality slot solutions, so...
It’s actually a little over $80M and $94M after cutting Whitehair. He has enough to sign 5 quality linemen. I am in no hurry to extend any of these guys. Let’s first see how they perform in 2023.
Mooney is out of position playing primarily slot. He should be primarily a wideout. JSN would be vastly better slot than anyone on this roster. He is a supreme route runner.
Spotrac says 75 without a couple of minor extensions there last couple of days. Also, Whitehair cut DOES NOT free 14 mil, hes gonna have a hefty dead cap, so... your numbers are just not accurate, unfortunately.
Just because you want something doesn't mean the circumstances are there to make it happen. Poles can only work with what he has. There is no easy recipe for "Super Bowl ready WR room."
No, but there are two specific things he CAN do to get there: (1) draft JSN at #9 and (2) take a shot at landing WR1 with first pick in second round.
This guy is saying that “decent” WR room is satisfactory, so just draft linemen. Getting JSN will do more to “support Fields” than any DE taken at #9.
I'm gonna try to inject some logic here. I'm sure it won't sink in but I'm gonna try.
David, we just traded for a #1 WR. That's what Moore is. He may not be your beloved Hopkins but he's a #1 (who out-gained DHop each of the last 2 seasons and is much younger and cheaper). Mooney is gonna get paid this summer. Claypool will play our 2023 and then we will see if he stays or goes. That's a solid 1-2-3 there. Velus and EQ are 4 & 5.
You're going to be very disappointed if you think we are drafting another WR at pick9 of the draft. I'd be stunned if they did that at this point. It's highly unlikely. I think they WILL draft another one (guy will compete with Velus as a reserve) but not until round 3 at the earliest. This draft has some good edge talent thankfully, much better than the WR talent IMO, we need edge rushers badly, and those guys aren't available in FA very often. You have to draft them high.
DE should be the #1 target at pick9 if there's a guy there thy like and I think there will be.
I notice how you loooooooovvveee moving the goalposts. You said you wanted a #1 WR to help Fields and you said you wanted a "Trey Lance deal" to move out of the top-5. YOU GOT BOTH. You don't get to move the goalposts now and suddenly say that isn't enough without spending a 1st and a 2nd in the draft. That's what you wanted!

We are signing 5 lineman in FA man. That's a pipe dream. I could see 1 OT and 1 iOL signing.

Im pretty sure he was thinking Oline and Dline together, and I think we better !

You can go on the internet and look at those WR rankings that have the WRs ranked in tiers. You will find the names I gave you in the top tier. You will not see Moore there. He is a good receiver but second tier, according to me and most others. He belongs in a different category than Adams, Chase, Kupp, Diggs, Brown, Hill, etc. He will be WR1 on Bears roster but not writ large NFL.
p.s. Drop the condescending, patronizing attitude. Just post your opinions.

None of those guys are available as you fully know. And Moore is younger than several of them.
Moore is a #1 by any plausible measure. He'd be the #1 on the depth chart of most teams.
Maybe stop moving the goalposts? You got exactly what you wanted. A legit #1 WR and a Trey Lance deal. Your words

Average $15M. 15x5=$75M. He can afford that.
No, we can't. You're not counting extensions for existing players, signing the draft class, etc. Besides I'm sure he'd like to carry over some money for when he has to pay Fields
Brown would cost north of 20. The other RTs prob 16-18 range. If you're including DLs here, Dremont Jones will likely cost 18+.
Poles has already said he wants to be cautious in FA. As he should be. It's easy to spend like a drunken sailor and regret it a year later.

I am not talking about trading for those guys. We are talking about what defines WR1. And since we are talking here about MY “goalposts” that’s the caliber WR I label WR1.
I said I would not trade down below #4 and lose Anderson/Carter unless I got three first round picks. That was my “goalpost”. That is what was traded for Trey Lance.

My new favorite complaint about the Trade: Now the Bears will have to pay Moore like a number 1 if he produces next year because he's going to hold out for a bigger paycheck.
