Chase has shown nothing since coming here and putting faith in him as a #2 is very untrustworthy.
Mooney hasn't done much here even when Allen Robinson was taking away all his attention. The guy is a great #3 WR but he's not someone I could rely on to be my go to #2.
Both have put up multiple 800+ yard seasons. What exactly do you expect of a "#2 WR"?
Gotta disagree with you here. Moore--Mooney--Claypool is a solid WR group and we haven't even drafted yet.
That's how I see it too. You look at the entire receiving unit and it is the best one we've had in a long time here in Chicago... and include Kmet in that also. Claypool will have a complete off-season with Fields and a complete season with him. That chemistry matters. Expect Claypool to produce a very solid season this year alongside DJ Moore, Mooney & Kmet. We need to keep some perspective here. You don't go from total trash to best in the NFL in one off-season. Bears have provided Fields with a much better receiving unit - and as you rightly point out, this isn't then end of the upgrade... and in 2024 we may see another huge addition to this unit. All Fields needs now is a solid OL. Poles will do this.
+1,000 Gotta admit. Poles (overall) has been brilliant since he landed here. His judgment and timing (and sheer guts) have been stellar. Even the best GMs make some mistakes. Poles will make his share too. But think about it. Did you ever dream the Bears' future would look this bright after only 1 year of Poles at GM? I sure didn't.
Umm, reading that tweet, is our goal to have a “decent” WR room or an ass-kicking Super Bowl ready WR room?
Just because you want something doesn't mean the circumstances are there to make it happen. Poles can only work with what he has. There is no easy recipe for "Super Bowl ready WR room."
No, but there are two specific things he CAN do to get there: (1) draft JSN at #9 and (2) take a shot at landing WR1 with first pick in second round.
This guy is saying that “decent” WR room is satisfactory, so just draft linemen. Getting JSN will do more to “support Fields” than any DE taken at #9.

With holes all across the board, especially OL and DL, our starting WRs look mighty fine to me. Even without the holes.

I am spending a chunk of the $100M on OL/DL..guys like Hargrave, McGlinchey, Risner, Pocic, Taylor, etc. I am drafting line in rounds 3-6.
However, there is NO slot receiver in FA or draft as good as JSN. He would be GREAT for Fields development and the Bears offense. I am cautiously optimistic that Poles will do it. Fields has said publicly that he wants JSN. After the beating he has taken for two years, Fields deserves it.
I agree with this... I think the bears could move down and collect even more picks and still get Van Ness or Wilson.
I posted the same on another thread. We know Poles loves to move around and with a deep Dline talent pool Poles can't go wrong and trade down again and grab of of those players, Van Ness or Wilson and move up in the 2 round.
So excited for the upcoming season.
I'm sure Poles would like to trade down again but will there be someone who wants the #9 pick? Probably not IMO. I'll take it if it happens but I kinda doubt it.

Well 100 is well gone after Moore, we looking at 75 rn, that is not that much as we need 5-6 new starters at OL and front 7 right now. Lets not forget we have important extensions possible, Mooney, Kmet, Johnson. We need to be wise and spread the $$. Regarding slot, we now have at least 2 quality slot solutions, so...

I don't know what else you could ask of the guy so far.
He came in with a plan. A plan that would involve some short-term pain (i.e., a full teardown). George and Teddy HAD to have signed off on that plan before he was officially hired. Thanks to a perfect tank season and some key help by Lovie, we ended up in a position to really remake the team more quickly than is normally possible.
He just executed a fantastic trade that I admit surprised even me and I was expecting a trade. I started talking here about acquiring a key young player as part of any trade-down but didn't seem like it was gonna happen.
And then it did. We are in a great spot now to get much better much more quickly. Carolina got absolutely fleeced there.
WWPacedo? Ryan Pace would have traded the #1 pick for Andy Dalton and Jimmy Graham.

It’s actually a little over $80M and $94M after cutting Whitehair. He has enough to sign 5 quality linemen. I am in no hurry to extend any of these guys. Let’s first see how they perform in 2023.
Mooney is out of position playing primarily slot. He should be primarily a wideout. JSN would be vastly better slot than anyone on this roster. He is a supreme route runner.
