No, we can't. You're not counting extensions for existing players, signing the draft class, etc. Besides I'm sure he'd like to carry over some money for when he has to pay Fields
Brown would cost north of 20. The other RTs prob 16-18 range. If you're including DLs here, Dremont Jones will likely cost 18+.
Poles has already said he wants to be cautious in FA. As he should be. It's easy to spend like a drunken sailor and regret it a year later.
Brown is not on my list. I said it would average $15M — some more, some less. We will see if I am right soon enough when all these guys get contracts. I am just saying what I want Poles to do, not predicting. Given his epic low spending in 2022, he must spend a lot to meet the 89% spending floor we talked about. I have $20+ million to sign draftees, and I am not extending anybody. Let’s see how they perform in 2023. Poles likes “flexibility” and this gives him flexibility. He may draft someone who makes any of them expendable.
None of those guys are available as you fully know. AnMoore is younger than several of them.
Moore is a #1 by any plausible measure. He'd be the #1on the depth chart of most teams.
Maybe stop moving the goalposts? You got exactly what you wanted. A legit #1 WR and a Trey Lance deal. Your words
I am not talking about trading for those guys. We are talking about what defines WR1. And since we are talking here about MY “goalposts” that’s the caliber WR I label WR1.
I said I would not trade down below #4 and lose Anderson/Carter unless I got three first round picks. That was my “goalpost”. That is what was traded for Trey Lance.
That's exactly what happened. Essentially the "3rd FRP" (in 2025) went from a 1st rounder to a 2nd in return for the best WR the Bears have had since Marshall. Frankly, I would have done the deal without the 2025 pick altogether but I'm glad Poles was able to squeeze it out of them.
This is a Trey Lance trade -- 2 1sts and 2 2nds and Moore.

Something tells me that the Panthers are going to be looking for a new GM soon.

A GM that makes this kind of move has some job security I would think. This trade was vetted with ownership in advance, quite sure of that. If their QB pick busts, then yeah in a couple years he will be in trouble but for now he's safe.
Ballard (Indy GM) on the other hand, is in some real deep doo-doo I think. He's now getting no better than the 3rd QB off the board, maybe even the 4th. They will smile for the cameras and tell everyone that whoever they draft was "the guy they wanted all along" but that's BS of course. Most of us here thought Indy would be our most likely trade partner for the obvious reasons that they couldn't risk what just happened to them, particularly with #2 being a divisional opponent.
Wouldn't you just love to hear what Irsay is saying and thinking right now? I bet he's PISSED.

You are right, I think in two years the Panthers could be looking for a new GM.
As for Ballard, I was surprised he wasn't fired after this season and I'm glad the Bears didn't hire him as the GM. I believe that exact scenario will be played out in Indy. They will get a new QB, who could be a bust, then Indy will fire their GM (Ballard) and their HC. You are right Irsay is pissed. They had a chance to draft a QB at the one spot and they failed.

They really did just crap the bed. They made it clear as day that they were done with vet retreads after 4 fails and they were drafting a QB. Ballard looked like he was in a hostage video in the press conference when Irsay said that's what he wanted.
IDK WTF Ballard was thinking. His #1 job this offseason was to move to #1 to get their guy (and get ahead of Houston) and he whiffed badly. He should have offered Poles Pittman, Buckner, or Nelson plus picks--whatever it took--to not get jumped. He failed. He better hope that whatever QB falls to them looks good and looks good quick or I think he goes the way of Ryan Pace.

I think the Panthers GM is new, so he's going to get enough at least 3-4 years (length of the rookie contract.) He's got time.
UNRELATED QUESTION:
Seeing chatter about the Panthers moved up so they could control the draft and trade down. To me that makes no sense what so ever. Can anyone see it and explain it to me like I'm 5 years old?

You give me a 5 pound chocolate candy bar, a bag of Oreo's and a half-pound Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry shake, and I'll give you a Burger King Crown.
With that Jewel-studded Crown you SHOULD be able to get a 5 pound chocolate candy bar, a bag of Oreo's, a half-pound Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry shake, AND a bag of twizzlers. If you can't, you blew it, royally. If you are able make that highly doubtful deal, you end up getting a bonus of ... twizzlers!
