I think theres a decent chance we see these 3 signs right from the get-go next week: RT Mike McGlinchey DL Dre’Mont Jones LB Bobby Okereke
Funny fact, Jahns and Fishbain just tweeted EXACT same players, in the same order, as their go-tos
"Our Bears free-agency shopping list: RT Mike McGlinchey, DT Dre’Mont Jones and LB Bobby Okereke among the potential fits"
This will be an interesting week or two here. Things should start leaking this afternoon.
The OTs in this FA class all have warts and weaknesses but we are kinda stuck between a rock and hard place. If we don't sign one, you're hoping Paris Johnson falls to you at #9 in the draft. He might make it; he might not. Can't take that risk IMO.
I think McGlinchey or Taylor are must-gets.
Dre'Mont Jones is pretty much a must-get too. To paraphrase hoe Hoge put it on his recent pod, you always overpay in the initial phase of FA but if I have to overpay, I want to do it on a young, ascending player with upside like Jones at a critical position of need.
Okereke I'm less concerned about. From what I read, Flus is pounding the table to get him but Poles has balked as he doesn't believe in spending big money on off-the-ball LBs. TBH, I'm with Poles on this one. I'd rather get Arden Key or Zach Allen or even a vet CB to upgrade Vildor than an off-ball LB too.

I have been researching Marcus Davenport. He had a good year in 2021, but the worst season of his career in 2022 due to injury and all the ineptitude on the Saints. I think he could very productive if not injured and on better team (like Bears?). The problem is that Spotrac says his market value is $23 million avg./yr. I want him, but not at that price, and I am having a hard time believing it will be nearly that high.
LOL.... Reminds me of a sign I saw years ago for a dentist. Dr. Payne, DDS. I just laughed and thought, he couldn't change his name or have chosen a different profession?

The heck of it is, the OTs in the draft who will be there at #9 or below also have iffy things too (if the scouting reports are right). Even Paris Johnson will be a project to some extent. The all have their flaws in this class.
