Thinking strictly long-term I'd rather wait and draft Harrison Jr next year. We might have a great pick with the Panthers pick. So a trade up if even needed might not cost as much.

Funny you should mention that option, because I have been thinking the exact same thing. Not everything will get perfectly fixed for the 2023 roster. Some needs will get pushed to 2024. This rebuild realistically needs to be viewed as a 2-year plan. The WR unit will be much improved with the players we now have rostered. The DL and OL and edge are critically needing upgraded for '23. Those needs can't wait to be kicked down the road to '24. But WR now can be. And the end result could be far better long-term, as you mentioned.

That's how I see it too. I like that Poles has made it clear he wants to build this thing the right way with patience. He knows "buying a team" in FA rarely works out and, even when it does (LAR 2021), it tends to fall off quickly.
I think they see if CC can produce well enough (and stay healthy) to warrant an extension next year and if he doesn't, they let him walk and look to add another major WR piece in next years 1st rd.
In the meantime, we need to field a competent DL and an OL that doesn't get Fields killed. Can't evaluate him as a passer, and he has work to do there for sure just like Hurts did a yr ago, with an OL giving up 60 sacks. Important to note that Hurts not only benefitted in 2022 from an improved WR group but he also had probably the best OL in football keeping him clean. Gotta get a minimum of 2 starter upgrades on the OL.

Yeah, and now instead of giving a guy like Jakobi Meyers, who I like but is NOT close to DJ Moore, 16 to 18 million dollars a season, we can take that money and spend it on O and D line help. Poles went out and got the best receiver available AND got premium picks to boot. He's set us up NICE going into the opening of free agency this week. I said to my wife yesterday "I don't think I've been this optimistic about the Bears in maybe a decade." Ran into a Bears fan at the store today(was wearing a Bears hoodie) and we were both really happy. Its a nice feeling!
"Legal tampering period" starts tomorrow (Monday) so stuff will start to leak out quickly. But technically can't put pen to paper until Wednesday. The deals will be arranged over the next few days and made official starting Wed.
