The "backup squad" winning some games down the stretch can be a good thing for the team imo...you can't create a winning team culture if you never win.
Nor can you if you are not able to get the talent you need. three years in a row, the guy we wanted went just out of our grasp.

Hopefully it's not Wentz or Mariota
Seriously?
in 2014 we drafted Kyle Fuller at 14 The guy the Bears were said to be targeting, Aaron Donal went at 13 - one position ahead of us
In 2015 we drafted Kevin White at 7 Do you remember the wins we had that year? I don't because they mean nothing now. I forget if one more or two more losses would have moved us up to 4 and we could have had Amari Cooper
In 2012 we drafted Shea at 19 I don't even remember who we beat that year either because we went nowhere only a loss or tow more would have netted us Quinton Coples at 16, Bruce Irvin at 15, Fletcher Cox at 14 or Dontari Poe at 11. An additional loss would have gotten us Luke Kuechly at 9
Not saying the guys picking would have picked any of them given the chance or that guys lower in the draft did not deserve a high pick, but yes there were good players ahead of us in the draft that were gone when we picked.

Tell me how that worked out when we beat the bucs last year?

YEAH seriously
And why do you say the last 3 years and then go 2015, 2014, 2012....
We can look back and say what if's all day...
But you are looking at production which will change under different circumstances. And they might change for even better results, i will admit that...But gaining these 2-3 players does not guarantee that their success would be the same if they were drafted by the Bears. Nor does it mean the Bears would flourish more if they had drafted these players.

IDK what you are talking about...fill me in...
You said these wins having meaning.
So did the bucs win last year have any meaning? Did we improve? Because we're 2-9 and on pace for a top 5 pick. How about the year before when we beat the bucs and lost our chance to have Williams?
I don't even remember those wins and how I was feeling. What I do feel now is that those wins were meaningless. They don't help the team out. We haven't improved at all. We regressed. Sure it could be injuries but coaching is playing a big part of our problem as well. We also lack playmakers... Imagine having Williams and Goldman on the line together. Or having Cooper rather than White? This team would be better off...
Broncos having the #2 overall pick saved that franchise. They have one of the best pass rushing players in the NFL.

You are talking about players on different teams, in different circumstances, under different coaches, with different teammates, different schemes, etc, etc, etc....And Von Miller isn't that entire team lol so he did not single-handedly save that franchise like superman, or NEO (for the younger generation) lol
Look, i get what you guys are trying to imply, i do!...the percentages are in favor for the higher picks. But there is more to it than that imo...

I figure it's okay to want to win or to want the higher draft pick. I understand both sides. And you are 100% right that Von Miller isn't the team. And hey, we might blow the higher draft pick. But personally, I'd like to at least have the shot at anyone in the upcoming draft. One guy will be off the board at that point. We have the entire stable of athletes to choose from. I keep thinking about how 12,000+ football players in Division-1 will have their very best go into this draft. The best of the best who played the game this year. And we will have the opportunity to choose at #2. And that #2 pick is in EVERY round in the ENTIRE draft. Man, that is the stuff dreams are made of when you have a butt-ugly team like we do right now. At least it is this fan's dream :-)
But I do understand the wanting to win. It does hurt to lose. I do get that, as a fan.

How is there more to it?
What do we truly get out of these wins? Winning Culture? As I pointed out with last years bucs win. There is no winning culture. We need talent here. We need playmakers. Our best defensive playmaker is 30 years old. If we could get Floyd and Garrett/Allen on our D-line, it could possibly become one of the best in the NFL. You rather not have that for a meaningless win?
I rather look for the future. This team needs as much talent as it can get. If we can hit on our top pick as well we could possible see a 8-8 season next year.
