FA, I don't think they'll use FA to sign high end long term players on the O. I think they like their young tackles for instance so imo they'll resign Reiff and get another older LT to allow Jones to sit and learn behind. Jones is proving he isn't ready yet. But w/out question Poles likes him and isn't going to kill his future w/the team by signing a 4yr deal w/a guy that will start those years.
LT: Look for a guy like Kelvin Beachem or Dakota Dosier at LT on a 1-3yr deal.
OC: I don't think Getsy is ready to give up on his boy at OC yet, but he cannot stay healthy, and obviously cannot play OC, so I think the same here, older guy 1yr deal, a guy like Mitch Morse or Jake Brendel
RG: unlike C, the Bears need a legit LG. as Whitehair walks, this has to be a longterm plan so someone young on the upside Michael Jordan out of Car.
TE: find a fairly young more WR then blocker to compliment Kmet, a guy like OJ Howard.
DT: Javon Hargrave Flus wants an interior DT that can create pressure, this guy fits the bill, will he make FA, doubt it, but this is the guy he's looking for and he'll break the bank to get him
MLB: Deon Jones. Bears need a MLB, and they and it's not something you can get in the draft unless it's a high pick. This scheme doesn't need Urlacher, but they need more then just guy taking up space.
DE: Bears need help everywhere and they have cash to spend. getting multiple quality players can only help Yannick Ngakoue, will give fans something to look forward to on this side of the ball again.
Bears will double dip on the def early on another DT first someone like Gervon Dextor or Jalen Carter
This def needs a dynamic WILL, Poles got a stud like that in the 2nd, hey'll look to do it again, BJ Ojulari
they'll spend the rest of they'll get more WR and RB talent in the mid rounds the more I think about it, the less I believe they'll keep Monty, I want them to but I doubt they do.
But yeah, FA is 95% fools gold. You usually overpay for players who disappoint. But Bears have so many holes they gotta sign some guys. I think C, LG, DT, and LB are places to look for values. If Mecole Hardman hits FA, yeah I'm making a call in hopes of adding a 3rd proven but young vet WR for Fields (draft another but most take a year or two to produce).
I really hope they re-sign/extend Mooney, JJ, and Monty beforehand. Monty and Herbert are the perfect RB tandem with different skillsets and you see why Monty's blocking ability in pass pro is valuable. Herbert is awful at it. He's the guy who whiffed on that punt block. That was 100% on him.
