Jared Goff looked pretty lost in the preseason, and doesn’t seem to have ever been close to assuming the No. 1 QB spot for the Rams, no matter how uninspiring Case Keenum has looked in his place. Whether or not this is a long-term issue for Goff remains up for debate, but at the very least, it’s clear the Rams underestimated just how far the rookie was from being ready to play at the NFL level.

Goff would be my prima facie reason for not wanting to draft a QB at the very top of the draft.  We may well me looking at more of a Cade McNown v2.0 here than and Aaron Rodgers v2.0.  If you can't even start over a Casey Keenum you aren't worth even a #1 pick let alone #1 overall.

Given that we seemed content to go with Leno at LT for now it would have been nice if Conklin had fallen a little farther because he would be an entire universe better than Massie has been as a RT.  Tunsil was there for the taking but I think we all knew that when some of the pre-draft scuttlebutt on him hit there was no way Pace would gamble on him.

I never liked the Floyd pick and don't much like it now either but we're stuck with him now.  Overall I think the smarter thing would have been to trade back not trade up but if Floyd can continue to build off that GB game he won't be a total bust year one.

So...this guy was a bust in many people's opinion?

The good news is that he seems like the kind of kid who wants to be good and is not afraid to work at it. That heavy dose of play at the beginning of the season MUST have him knowing how far his strength and weight are for him to be effective. Hopefully that will motivate him to fix both.

This a big part of what I can't abide in with Fox as far as his personnel decisions.  If they drafted him as a pass rusher why try to make a 3 down LB out of him and start him day one in place of Houston whose arguably his best all around OLB when he wasn't ready for that and may never be unless he puts on another 15-20lbs and keep it on.

It was the same with starting "Lameford" over Carey and Howard who IMHO are much better suited for a ball control offense and KW over Meredith when White still can't even run correct routes and Meredith can.  And that follows releasing Mariani and keeping Thompson who doesn't even offer much as a KR now that many endzone kicks come out to the 25.

To me Fox seem even worse than Lovie as far as keeping his pet players around even when they never see the field and better players are released or shunted off to the PS.  His roster moves look like a complete clusterfuck at times.
