Soul, Fox tell you all this over dinner? Nightly phone calls? For a guy that never says anything when he talks you got all that? Heres another story. He came here promised the world, but didn't get it. Now he wants to make sure he goes out on top, turning the shit team into something? IFs IFs IFs Is my way any different then yours?
No scotty he didn't have to. I have eyes, ears, and a brain and I like to use them to develop my own opinions as opposed to simply going with whatever is most popular at the moment or what some former pro says about whoever in an interview.
I don't think I'm all that alone in my thinking because most of the Chicago media sees it in a similar sort of way and I don't consult with them, drink with them, or have dinner with them either. I mean how would I right? I'm a thousand miles away and I can still smell the stink of it others can't when it's almost next door.
Don't forget that I watched Fox step on his dick here in Denver as well when he should have taken two or three teams to a SB and at least been competitive in the one he did get to but he didn't. He got his fucking ass kicked by an upstart Seattle team.
So you can believe in him if you like. That's your option but I don't and I'm also gonna exercise my option to say it loud and clear until he proves me wrong or leaves. That OK with you?
Nope. It only looks that way because of 1) our opponents have soft defenses, and 2) a functioning run game and an OL that's beginning to gel. Even those in the Chicago media that have been hardest on Cutler have admitted this.
Since Hoyer is the one playing right now he's been the beneficiary of an easier schedule and improved play all around him but we have no idea how Cutler would have played if he had those same benefits.
So while you can have that opinion it's not a fact.
Fox hasn't the faintest idea what he's doing or players like Howard and Meredith would not have been on the bench while others not as good started in front of them. Not when you tell everyone your objective as a HC is to put you best 22 on the field and he didn't.
So IMHO either Fox is an incompetent HC or if we want to play the conspiracy game he simply doing what he can to sabotage Cutler and keep the negative attention off himself by playing Hoyer when it benefits both of them to do so.
Hoyer plays against JAX but still doesn't win then Cutler returns to face the two toughest opponents we'll face at the end of the first 8 week cycle. Cute huh?
Yet Hoyer having half a defense while Cutler had a whole wasn't a benefit to him? Missing key guys like Goldman and Houston are huge on our lack luster pass rush and is reason why Luck was able to do what he did with one of the WORST O-line in the league. We can talk about how Hoyer might of cost us the game but the real truth is our kicker lost us this game. If he were to make that kick this game would be much different.
Losing a game isn't always the QBs fault. We blame everything but Cutler for years but when his backup outshines him again we go straight to making excuses?
I'm not a Fox believer myself after looking at his stats with the Panthers but one thing most of the media says and this isn't directed at Fox more so than Cutler. You can't win with Cutler. Cutler has an attitude that brings down the team to his poor level. Hoyer at least allows us to win. He plays it safe and also gives the ball to EVERYONE.
Maybe this is Fox's plan to get us to the top 3 pick this year without making it look like we're tanking. No one knows but you don't sit out a game who has an 100+ QBR...
First of all we aren't talking about defense here we're talking about operating the offense well enough to score enough points to win. The defense seemed to do OK against Detroit so what about that game. He had a huge advantage in TOP, a RB who averaged 5 ypc and gained over 100 yards rushing and Hoyer still couldn't put more than two TDs on the board. So let's stick with the offense OK. It's been much the same for him but far different for Cutler and Hoyer wasn't playing half a game with a busted thumb in any of them.
You do when he can't use that efficiency rating to score points and that all a QBR is. If you want to go by just that Cutler's QBRs were well above 100 in the 1st half of his two starts before protection broke down and his thumb was busted in game two. We didn't win those either.
But his backup didn't outshine him at all. The results were nearly the same against much weaker defenses and with better personnel at his disposal. So tell me how exactly is Hoyer outshining him. I don't see it especially not when I see him ignore his top WR as often as he does and do it again on a 4th down play for a game winner when the guy was open. You can see it as you like, and Hoyer can say what he likes, buy he could not have completed that pass to AJ and that's why he elected to go where he could make the throw. IMHO and ONLY IMHO Cutler would have nailed it before anyone could have reacted. The Colts made a huge mistake leaving AJ in single coverage an Hoyer didn't make them pay for it yet Luck did when he had Hilton singled on Glenn. Cutler and Luck can make throws like that, Hoyer can't or he'd be someones starter.
We simply aren't gonna agree about Cutler's attitude, facial expressions, the way he parts his hair or any other physical attribute you want to toss in nor the opinions of a guy like Shannon Sharpe whose been a walking talking sound bite his entire life and who has an opinion about everything, most of them negative. You're talking about another Marty Bennett or Brandon Marshall type here who'd love Jay if Jay was throwing to him but hate him when he's not. So there is zero reality for me in what he says. I've listened to him put Elway down before too when the Broncos struggled so whatever he's selling today I ain't buying.
SO ... there have been a TON of injuries to KEY players - we're playing 2nd stringers everywhere - our last 2 first rd draft picks haven't panned out ( yet )- we've lost to some tough defenses , and good offenses - we've had turnovers at the worst moments - we've had some totally bullshit calls go against us . And how good would the Bulls have been if Michael and Scotty had been injured ? How good would the Cubs be if Lester & Bryant & Rizzo were injured ? How good would the Cubs be if Bryant & Baez & Russell hadn't panned out ? How good would the 85 Bears have been w/o Hampton & Singletary & McMahon ?
Say what you want about Fox ... but I'd like to wait until he coaches a season w/o some of his best weapons sitting on the sidelines .

Funny I remember a lot of people saying that injuries, even key ones, weren't an excuse and that coaches need to coach up the bottom of the roster. My how a few years change opinions.
I actually agree partially, but if the locker room dissolves (and there have been some signs on the sidelines it might be) then you have to move on. But I think you have to give it at least 1 more year. But injuries are going to happen, even to key players, chances are you are going to be missing key pieces for at least part of the year. The team needs to build enough depth to be able to absorb some of that.

We might have our new starting QB on the roster. Don't you think it would be smart of having your new HC and your new QB at the same time? I say it again, go and hire a OC like McDaniels or Haley as your HC, try to get a DC like Fangio and have a OC that can Coach the Players and a QB Coach like McCown (if he wants to retire). Give the new QB help, bring in a HC that will work with him and after all is said and done, have your HC worthy DC handle the D.
Losing a game isn't always the QBs fault. We blame everything but Cutler for years but when his backup outshines him again we go straight to making excuses?
Expect this is blatantly untrue. Cutler has gotten blame for everything that has gone wrong. I'm willing to bet I can find posts you made on the other board saying so. Yet now when blame is on the qb you like....Flip flop flip flop flip flop......

Actually it's normally been split, some blame everything on Cutty, some blame everything else but Cutty. A very small group say it's a combination of things. Motm definitely has a point, but it's a skewed point, as there is w/out question those that do put it all on Cutler.
