No, Hoyer is turrrrible and is not putting up better numbers then Cutler; and if by some chance another horseshoe got shoved up another chicago backup qb's ass, it doesn't really mean much other then he got lucky.

How come you are always the first to want to shove something up peoples asses?

How long before Hoyer is on IR is the real question.
If the offensive line doesn't get much better, then the QB's on this team are going to have a long brutal year. I'm glad we don't have a promising young draftee QB starting now. He'd just get brutalized and injured, and probably stunt his development as our franchise QB anyway. I hope they can fix the OL before we trot out a new franchise QB. In the meantime I do feel sorry for Cutler and the guys who get sacrificed THIS season. There's not much opportunity for any Bears QB to shine this year without a running game or pass-protection. This year's QB's are doomed before the games even start each week.

How come you are always the first to notice somebody wanting to shove something up peoples asses? Wait! Bad smiley choice. This one is better:
Sure......and there's a chance I'll win the Powerball Lottery but not much of one. If you can't protect the passer then no matter who you put back there the results won't change.
Actually this may turn out to be of a benefit to all. If Hoyer plays well then trade Cutler asap for the best offer Pace can squeeze out of anyone for him. Then use one of those picks to draft a QB and let him compete with Shaw and Hoyer next summer to see who starts.
Cutler gets a new lease on life elsewhere and Bears fans get to experience the first real QB contest we've seen in years. At this point in time we have nothing to lose except 14 more games.

Not sure I'm ready to read 14 weeks of 'Tank the Season' threads. Maybe it's naive of me to believe the Bears can turn the train around despite their injury woes and their shitty start, but I do believe it. I think this team can still finish 8-8 and I'd like to see them do it.
Still, let me start the opposition to this tank the season talk we'll be hearing from now til December: top 10 quarterbacks aren't the panacea to a program's problems. Sure you can point to Carson Wentz and root your call. BUT What's Lynch or Goff doing right now? Last I saw Jameis Winston was looking shitty and Marcus Mariota? Meanwhile Prescott and Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett demonstrated their value as depth. Tanking a season for a lottery ticket ain't the way to the promised land. This team needs to establish an identity and identities are forged through adversity. If they fold they're going to form into failures and that will plague this team until Fox's fired and the front office brings someone new in to do another 2-3 year rebuild... **** that.
Regarding the original post, it's possible Hoyer can have better results than Cutler if, as has been pointed out by others, the offensive line can improve their push and pass protection. A strong run game would help Hoyer a immensely and if they can get that ground game going, Hoyer might find success in the middle of the field. I also think The Log needs to show some flexibility with his conservative cuckold play calling. Hoyer is not Cutler and needs to have a different script. The Log's alone in the middle of the river and the fan base from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico is staring at it as it floats down stream. Show us you're cut from something substantive.
