The Chicago Bears added receiver Kevin White to Thursday’s injury report with a hamstring injury that caused him to be limited at practice.
As expected, coach John Fox danced around White’s condition a mere three days from Sunday’s regular-season opener at Reliant Stadium.
"Not being a surgeon or a doctor, they just tell me hamstring and that's what I report to you guys," Fox said.
Minor or not, White cannot afford a setback. After surgery to repair a stress fracture wiped out his entire rookie season, White stayed healthy in the preseason, but did not make an impact in exhibition games until the finale at Cleveland. Though the rest of Chicago’s starters were given the night off, White led the team with four receptions for 57 yards.
But for White, every rep counts, especially during the week of his NFL regular-season debut.
"We’re going to put him in positions to succeed," quarterback Jay Cutlersaid. "We’re not just going to throw him out there and hope for the best. We know what Kevin can do well. We’re going to try and put him in those positions where he can do well."
Despite White’s limited body of work, Cutler expressed confidence in the young receiver, whom Chicago drafted seventh overall in 2015.
"I’ve been working with Kevin all offseason, and before that a little bit," Cutler said. "I know a lot about Kevin. I know what he likes and what he doesn’t like. How he runs routes. It’s just a matter of experience. He just has to get out there, and there are things he has to experience and go through in his first game. You got to get through the jitters, and after that you just have to play football. He’s a very good football player."
It happens ( usually when you overextend ur stride ) . All I can say is they better not rush him back before it's ready or you double the chance of making it worse . If he sits 1 game , big deal it's 1 game .
I wonder if we can be doing something better in training. Jeffrey did not train with us and he got a hammy. White did and he still got a hammy. Maybe just a fluke, but I wonder of we have the very best modern training happening at HH

It's a little bit of both. Not knowing the specifics of either the Bears training methods, nor what Alshon did with his trainers it's hard for me to specify one thing. Further, as someone alluded to it could be a bio-mechanical issue with the way they run...which if that doesn't get fixed it will be a recurring issue.

Maybe we just need to keep 'em all in bubble wrap until game times this year. All 53 guys on the roster. Here's a prototype:

if he was on the Bears team he would broke his nose on 3 different places
