I like the article and it bring forward lots of the concerns I mentioned. What are you doing to you OL player development? What happens now with Grasu? So now that C has all of a sudden become Whirehairs best position despite what our eyes tell us, does that mean that he regresses at G? Do we want him at G later?
Fox does seem to have an inclination to change things for the OL at the 11th hour. He didn't make Long a T until right before the opener last season. I really wonder if he does not appreciate the time it takes for the cohesiveness to develop on the OL. It would surprise me if after all these years at coaching he did not understand that.
Having said all of that, is a Sitton is available, I think you have to take him and we did. Kudos to the FO.
I guess what I don;t appreciate if Fox trying to blow smoke up my ass. (well, I consider my ass a one way only portal so anything going in is not good). Tell us what the real plan is, or tell us you will work it out as we go along because we had to take Sitton, but don;t tell me that we now have an opportunity to play Whitehair at his best position which is C. Then you just come out stupid.
There are so many possibilities to consider once Grasu returns that it's probably not worth even dwelling on now. Massie is only being guaranteed a one year deal despite having signed for three so we could see Long back at RT or Whitehair at RT in the future. Or if Leno fails at LT next year Long could move there and Whitehair replaces him at RG. Or Grasu moves to OG.
For now they'll probably start Larsen at OC. Whitehair stills needs to learn the line call and a new position so my guess is they'll give that some time and use him as a first off the bench backup at all three interior OL spots. That means getting practice snaps at all three as well.
There are times when I think Fox even confuses himself trying to keep up with all he's said. I've noticed he hates to be pinned down and commit to much of anything during his pressers. Whether that's really him or just a front he likes to use I can't tell but like Cutler he's he best we have for the moment and if they don't win together by 2018 both will probably be gone.
