Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way, Hub basically just said the same thing about the trade. He didn't think another team was going to take Trubisky either.
No there are several people that are stating that b/c they didn't like the trade from the get go; and thought that the Bears were going to actually trade Trub to the Browns for the 12th and more picks(Hub). Which was also incorrect(really good theory btw).
I'll take the 2 groups that actually that were actually in the know(SF and Chi) then those that are speculating and weren't in the know(proven by the fact they didn't know Chi wanted Trub to begin with).
Well, what's done is done and I'm over it now. I'm just glad they traded back I the 2nd to gain back some picks while still getting a position of need. I will admit that I really missed having a 3rd round pick.

I was hoping for a 3rd also, even if it meant another trade back.
I still feel this was one hell of a reach, but what is done is done, Besides losing a 3d we dropped in the second, which cut the Bears out of a chance of sectioning a good Defensive Player. Yes the Bears needed a good TE but a better Defensive player IMO was more important

I like what we got (if Trub becomes solid), but to me Thomas + Kizer + 3rd pick sounds better than Trub + Shaheen at the moment

My original thought as well. I may not even care anymore if the rest of the draft goes well though.
I was hoping to get one of the quality cornerbacks still on the board in the second round. Pace traded away the pick for some 4th rounders. I don't get that. The other teams then drafted all the remaining good defensive backs in the second round. So, Pace took a Division II tight end.

They needed to gain some picks back. Five picks was not going to be enough. Now they have six which still isn't a lot but it's better, plus they gained a pick back for next year.

I say this as someone who wanted Thomas too. If Pace was gonna "fill the hole" at QB, I understand why he wanted to do it this year. None of us want to be picking top-3 again for a long, long time. And I'm glad he got the highest ceiling QB in this draft. Lots of reports I read say Trub is a better prospect than Goff & Wentz were last year. They were selected 1-2 and their teams both give up way way more to move up for them. Yeah, its hard to swallow right now because it's a delayed gratification thing. No kid wants to be told on christmas morning that he can't play with his new toys for a year.
As for Kizer, I wanted no part of that guy. He fell in this draft and fell hard. For a guy who not that long ago was considered the best QB prospect and a top-5 pick, to fall all the way to the bottom 2nd and be passed on twice by several QB-needy teams says a lot. When you consider that QBs routinely get over-drafted because of the position, the market valued him as a 3rd-4th round talent.
All the fans that are carping right now about Trubisky are the same people who would have been calling for Pace's scalp if he didn't get a viable QB this draft the moment Glennon throws his first interception this coming September.
