The announcers questioned the move and Trubs arm strength. They didn't seem to like it too much.
The move definitely has risk. But like I said from the beginning. Any team without a decent QB is simply not going far. And you need a really high pick to even be in the game. No way could we have moved up from #11 or #13 to #2 without crippling the team for a long time. The time was now and we did it. Now I just hope we got the right guy.

A grade of B+? I don't think so. I think a C would be a generous grade.
CBS gave the Bears a D and the 49ers an A+. I feel that's more accurate.
I have to side with Hawk here. I saw a C minus from another site that may have been a B IF we didn't give up three mid round picks for him. That's a bundle of cheaper young talent and possibly at positions we badly need to improve or add depth at in order to support a young QB.
I still feel it was a year too early to make this move and that Pace got smoked by a rookie GM who not only got the guy he wanted all along, and we should have as well, but Lynch also ended up with picks for his rebuilding effort we could also have used. It was a very risk move.
I wanted a QB so I'm happy we got one. I like that Pace identified his guy and did what he felt he needed to do to get him. Good for him. Now hopefully it's good for us.

What would you rather have:
Glennon, Mitch
Hoyer/Barkley, Thomas
Who wins more games for you, the QB or the DE?
I'd rather have Thomas or Adams and then Kizer if available, which he still is.
I wish the Bears were able to do what the 49ers did. Trade down and then take Watson or Kizer and then trade up and grab another top players all while still having a decent amount of draft picks.
The Bears now have a QB that they may have been able to get anyway and two fewer picks this year. Where are they going to get the players to fill all the needs they have, undrafted players?
SF hasn't taken a qb though. they are still w/out a qb. And the Bears weren't in a position to trade down b/c SF was going to do it.
Thomas + Kizer(if he's even available in the 2nd when the Bears pick) or Trib + McDowell. I'll take Trib + McDowell. Especially when I don'thave to start the qb this year. SF needed a legit qb option, and they don't have one. Thomas doesn't help them this year, or any year until they get their qb resolved.
We won't know the grade on this guy for a few years. That is true of all draftees in general, and quarterbacks in particular.
We don't know anything yet.
If the guy turns out to be a bust, that's one thing, but if he turns out to be a great franchise QB for the Chicago Bears for the next 8 or 10 (or more) years, then that's another thing. And of course he could be anywhere in the range between bust and greatness.
I find it a waste of time putting a draft grade on Trubisky at this point before he's even thrown his first NFL pass for us. But I "get it" that it makes the sports media people relevant for today, and the fans have some fun guessing like this. But it is meaningless to place a grade on the guy at this point.
