Hankins in the pickup we need (Jenkins is depth competition only and not starter quality). Now that Poe is off the market on a 1 yr deal, Hankins contract demands hopefully should moderate. Give him a 2 yr deal/6m per. Draft Thomas at 3 and the front-7 is now stacked (and young too). Go get your QB in round 2.
I thought I saw somewhere Hankins wants 10 mill per year, which explains why it's so quiet around him. Clearly he's not going to get it.

Not from us apparently... Although, in this market, he could and should be close to that

That def. sounds intriguing! Still, wish we could draft a quality DB, hopefully there will be something good in the 3rd.
Alex, I'm figuring the #3 pick is going to be hard to trade. Who's going to be there that teams are dying to move up (and give away picks) for? From what I've read, the probability that Pace will be above to find a trading partner at 3 is LOW.
But our 36 pick is another story. There's good potential there to trade down into the middle 2nd and net yourself an extra 3rd. Pace did it twice last year in that round.
ideal scenario: sign Hankins to replace Unrein/Corny, Bullard is his backup--that's a wall of a DL vs the run now draft Solomon Thomas @ 3 to be our stud edge rusher opposite Floyd, McPhee & Young are rotational depth that front 7 is now among the best and youngest in the NFL. Pass rush helps the secondary of course trade down from 36 to gain an extra 3rd draft Davis Webb in the mid-2nd, there's your future Garappolo prospect still have 2 3rds and 2 4ths left for DB, TE, WR

Yep, he's been holding out for money the market clearly doesn't support. Reality check time. His price will now dropping, esp since Poe had to settle for a 1 yr deal.

I'd really like to see something like that happen.
I like the idea of having such a honkin space eatin run stuffer in there to give Eddie some air. I really don't know much about the cat except he always seemed to look good against us. But then again...
Low risk move that may end up paying dividends. Does NO run a 3-4? I wonder if this guy just didn't fit well with the 4-3 scheme.
The Bears seem to keep signing these so called low risk players, but I don't see how a team that went 3-13 is reaping any rewards from these signings

yeah. me neither. But I guess the goal has moved to low risk rather than major leaps in talent.

what major leaps in talent, in this FA would you take? Mind some of the best, like AJ and Bouye wouldnt sign here
I would have harder after Jefferson, Wagner, Pryor, Britt, and if neither of Bouye or Gilmore would not come here, I'd be on Butler. He is still available now but I only see the Saints linked to him. He is an RFA so not sure what it would take to get him, but we should sure find out.
Coleman is still out there too. Does not get me too excited though. Would kind of be like most of our other signings.

I hear you, but Jefferson was not coming here, just read an article saying he wants to play it to win it and that he rejected a much bigger offer from Browns. Wagner isnt much of an upgrade. We already have Meredith and White so probably no room for Pryor AND Britt, one of them wouldve been good though.
