#Bears signing NT John Jenkins, his agent tweeted. Former 3rd round pick in NO when Ryan Pace was there. Depth for Eddie Goldman.
Smart move. I haven't had time to look at John's performance over the last few years, but Eddie Goldman has shown to be made of fool's gold - kid can't stay healthy. There's a desperate need for depth - rotation - at that NT spot and William Sutton just ain't cutting it. At the very least, Jenkins brings some much needed competition along the D-Line for those depth players. Still like to see another FA signing at DE. Pickings seem to be slim though.
I followed your tweet and saw some good news from the Lemming... Jenkins is here to compete with Sutton and Fergy. Based on their recent contributions to the team, shouldn't be hard for Jenkins to stick - hell it's going to be hard to move him once he climbs off the freight plane. Also, this might free Goldman up a bit and give him added reps at DE assuming he can make it through camp without breaking an ankle.
I like the idea of having such a honkin space eatin run stuffer in there to give Eddie some air. I really don't know much about the cat except he always seemed to look good against us. But then again...
Low risk move that may end up paying dividends. Does NO run a 3-4? I wonder if this guy just didn't fit well with the 4-3 scheme.

Last year he played for the Seahawks who run something of a hybrid defense. Based on the little research I've done on him, he wasn't very good in Seattle and he struggled to keep the pounds off. Again, if he can stay healthy he's already better than Goldman, Sutton because none of those guys have shown an ability or desire to stay on the field.

You are aware that Goldman is in this league for only 2 years? And that he played 15 games during first one?

Those are just alternative facts... I didn't know that...or I did at one time and then I forgot about it after he was dinged up much of last year. THanks for the reminder. Still, the point stands. We need someone who can stay healthy on that line.
Bears signed NT John Jenkins, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year contract.
Jenkins was expected to meet with the Colts after his visit with the Bears but saw everything he needed to see in Chicago. The 27-year-old fared poorly over 217 snaps for the Seahawks and Saints last season. Mar 17 - 12:39 PM
Here's the info from his release from the Saints:

METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints parted ways with another high draft pick who never fully materialized.
They released nose tackle John Jenkins, a third-round pick out of Georgia in 2013, who started a total of 22 games but lost his starting job this summer to Tyeler Davison.
Jenkins, 27, apparently became even more expendable after first-round draft choice Sheldon Rankins was activated from injured reserve Sunday. Jenkins was a healthy inactive for Sunday’s 41-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Defensive tackle John Jenkins, a third-round pick in 2013, recorded 1.5 sacks in his three-plus seasons with the Saints. Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire
Jenkins (6-foot-3, 259 pounds) had a promising rookie year, highlighted by a sack in New Orleans’ playoff loss at Seattle that season. But he never really took the next step.
Jenkins had a total of 110 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in three-plus seasons, plus the playoff sack.
He had a total of 10 tackles this season in seven games. He started one game when Davison was injured but averaged less than 20 snaps per game in the others.
