That is exactly what everyone said about Cutler, and no one had a problem with...for about 2 years, then it got some flack for the next 2 years....then it just became absurd for a Vet going on 10 years to be given the same excuses all over again.
In short, QB with 18 starts on a bad team w/bad coaches gets a incomplete. QB w/100 starts doesn't.
For no good reason whatsoever I am getting the feeling of deja vu all over again. Could this by Jay 2.0?
No b/c no picks were traded, and there is likely no 2nd contract for Glennon

Sorry to do this to you Chuck, but there are a few other FA names that came to mind as more accurate comparisons than Jay Cutler. Cutler came in as a Pro-Bowler with tons of promise, Glennon does not. The reason I say "sorry to do this to you" is because you may not want to look at the list that this all reminds me of:
Brian Griese
Doug Flutie
Dave Krieg
Erik Kramer (actually, I would be fine with this one)
Steve Walsh
Steve Fuller
Chad Hutchinson
Chris Chandler
Kordell Stewart
Henry Burris
Jim Miller
Mike Phipps (going back a fur piece, but I go back even further than that)

Thats been my initial reaction to all the Glennon talk abut I've bben too cynical and pessimistic recently, so I've avoided saying anything. I think Pace went dumpster diving here for a QB to avoid having to take one at #3. I hope I'm wrong.

If you're wrong, then I'm wrong brother. I take a lot of solace in the fact that I am wrong a lot.
The article seemed a little biased to me. His record was 5-13 and the only things he talked about were three games that he did well in. it seems that in most of his games he must not have done so well or his record would not have been 5-13. Also, they felt they had to go to the draft to get someone better. I think there is much more to the story than this article. I don't think much of him, but hell you always want to be wrong about that if they guy is a Bear.
Absolutely. Jay Cutler has had a lot of very good games and some very bad ones but he is in the top 20% of all NFL QB current and retired in comeback 4th Q wins and very least has one half his NFL starts even after playing with some of the very worst teams in Bears history. Prior to the post Lovie era he'd won over 60% of all of his starts and over 80% when our defense allowed 20 points or less.
So THIS is Pace and Fox's upgrade? A guy with a 5-13 W/L record, one decent rookie season followed by being replaced by one QB whose no longer playing in the NFL, another journeyman #2 QB who once played for us and hasn't held a starting job since, and the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft in Jameis Winston? And we're gonna shell out as much or more than we're giving Cutler!!!!!
Wow, this is like an acid flashback to the Mikey McCaskey/Dave Wannstadt era. Welcome Mike Glennon.
The fact that Lovie smith decided to start Josh Mcgowen(got that rosen?) over this guy says more about why Lovie is coaching college ball then it does about Glennon.
This article makes me feel like there is still room for growth w/this kid; and I think I heard or read yesterday that the NFL has a much higher opinion of him then the fans do. Which makes sense, I mean who really was watching TB games in 2013-2014.
The fact that he was able to go in and preform in Sea and Pitt are good examples of his upside, the record proves the guy is likely just a boarderline starter/bridge.
Right.........in exactly the same way that Fox insisting on wanting to start Hoyer over Cutler explains why he's the second losingest HC in Chicago Bears history Ric.

Doe he remind anyone else of Carrot Top?
Or maybe this guy?
He's led a bunch of comeback 4th Q wins but they've generally been after playing like crap or worse earlier in the game. Typical Jay Cutler 1st half stat line in a game he later led a 4th Q winning drive in:
9 for 19, 88 yards, 1 INT
I understand the Glennon skepticism. I don't see him as anything but a bridge QB until the rook is ready but the time has come to move on from Jay and that process is a bumpy one no doubt.

Great comparison. Thanks! LMFAO
I'm sorry b/c cutler did so much winning for Fox when he was in....LMFAO. Just about time to fess up and admit that Cutler has been nothing less then a ginormous disappointment, for his entire career.
Want more proof, teams apparently interested in Cutler; Jets and Miami. Who did the Jets want before looking at Culter; Jimmy G and Glennon(the guy the Bears are getting). Oooo the playoff runs those teams will get w/Cutler at the helm. teams not interested in Cutler, each one that is ready to take make a serious playoff push right now(arizona, kc, houston, den).
btw, David Haugh is on 670 right now. And he said that you'd be hard pressed to find a coach, scout or gm that doesn't think Glennon could be a good qb in this league. Strong arm, good release, good leader and teammate are all qualities he has.
Other than the two generations of management at TB that decided they had a better choice or the other teams going against the Bears for his services.
I mean seriously, you think every GM and coach thinks he could be a good QB in the league and none of the QB needy teams went for him. And you don't see a disconnect between what you are saying and what is happening?
Exactly . If he's always had this much " potential " why weren't teams trying to get him the past couple of years ?
