The article seemed a little biased to me. His record was 5-13 and the only things he talked about were three games that he did well in. it seems that in most of his games he must not have done so well or his record would not have been 5-13. Also, they felt they had to go to the draft to get someone better. I think there is much more to the story than this article. I don't think much of him, but hell you always want to be wrong about that if they guy is a Bear.
To be fair, he went 5-13 on a truly horrific team with a terrible OL and Lovie offensive guru Smith coaching him.
I think thats where almost everyone is and should be. Guy is a wildcard b/c there isn't enough snaps to know anything.
I have not been saying anything but that. But I have also been saying that I don't think he will be any better than Cutler. Not sure why that has engendered two pages worth of posts, but yeah, I have not changed my mind. I have no idea if he is the guy, but based on his record, I do not think he will be any better than Jay. He does have more upside just because of the simple fact that he is younger and not as entrenched in any habits. He has not played as many games.
But MY OPINION is that we won't see much better than Cutty. Not sure why that bothers you so much. If I'm wrong, that's a good thing. And I don't mind being wrong, so no harm no foul.
B/c you cannot have it both ways, you cannot say you dont think you know what he is AND then say you think you know what he is. Pick a lane ;p. It's my OCD, or ADHD or something.
If he's an unkown b/c he hasn't had enough games or thrown enough balls, then he's an unkown, and having a losing record on a bad team doesnt show anything. How many backup qb's from NE had good records and were complete duds; I think all of them. Also, Cutler is a turnover monster, something that Glennon is not. If you are comparing him to someone, I think McCown(while w/Chicago) or Hoyer would be better comparisons.

Well, then that's good because I never said that. I said I don't know what he is and then I said my opinion of what he is. That is different. My opinion still says I don't know what he is. It just gives what I THINK he is. I am not getting into semantics here? What would make you happy? I don't know what he is but that I think he would be better than Cutler? It's the same thing... I don't know the first part, and my thinking on the second part -- except my thinking on the second part with agree with your thinking. That would make it ok? Why are we even doing this?

That chick in your avatar would make me happy and nothing less.

yeah.... sadly even though I give her groin unlimited free advertisement, her groin has never once offered to reward me. I'm sad about this.

I see this scenario..
The Bears sign Glennon, and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd.. Then in training camp, there is open competition for the starting QB job between Glennon, Shaw, and the QB the Bears drafted..

I could be wrong though.
yeah, I've been wondering if we really would pick a QB. Where we would pick him, and whether the QB would really be a viable option as a starter -- especially if he were not picked in the first round. We won't know these answers until the and of April.
I think the Bears just want a warm body at QB to get them through 2017. Glennon can be that guy. They can draft a guy in the mid-rounds also, and we have all seen the many threads about the percentages of a QB being solid if you draft them in these mid rounds. The percentages of success drop dramatically - and even the 1st round QBs chances are not great... but certainly better than the mid-round guys. It's like buying a lottery ticket expecting to win... statistically you have a better chance of being struck and killed by lightening.
Glennon could be fine as a backup eventually, and he can be the starter this year too. I just can't get too excited about the signing, but that's just me.

Agreed. Except I'd want us to take a QB in the first 2 rounds.
We have neglected the QB position for years. If we can fix that in 1 year, it is worth the investment.
