Howard was NEVER going to be the primary back here. Last year he was and he was terrible, as predicted by multiple people when discussion what Naggy wanted out of the RB.
Amazing how you finally said something in his 4th game when he finally did something w/Philly. Those first 3 nothing burger games, not a word.
1 game out of 4 of doing something is now productive, good to know. Now prove that he could have had even that one game w/Kyle Long as his starting RG; he's been flat bad, the entire OL has been flat bad. 0% shot he ever gets 15 touches as a Bear, or gets holes like he had against GB in Chicago w/the OL struggling the way it is.
Nagy was going to draft a rb regardless if they kept Howard one more year, So it's not Howards contract vs Monty's, or Davis'. B/c it wasn't about his contract this year, it was about the contract he's going to get from another team next year, and having his replacement already on the books.
As for next year, I would be happy to deal with that NEXT year. I want to make our best run at a Super Bowl THIS year....because I don't have that many more years left (age 73)!!
Yes there was, which is why they did.
Ya RB's tend to need OL's, the special ones don't, I'd add Walter and Forte into that list also, and something Howard isn't. Something Howard wouldn't have this year and would struggle every bit as much as the others, if not more b/c of his running style clashing w/the O the bears run.
What he did in Chicago was get slowly worse every year, even though the team around him got better and won more.
Bears weren't though, which is why the Bears traded him, and the league thought so highly of this great rb they should have kept that the bears got a conditional 5th.
Bears are 3-1 right now w/out running at 100% health or O play. I'd say that means the GM did a pretty good job building the team. not perfect mind you, but still A grade material.
