Try to remember Pace does the picking so all bets are off.
I keep thinking that there is a relationship between Pace and Fox that makes me wonder about the dynamics of how decisions are made inside the Bears. Just the other day I was reading yet another article on the Pace-Fox dynamics. This person started out by questioning the joint press conference at the end of the year and why the GM didn't do it himself. Not sure if it is valid or not. People that don't like Fox will say the guy has a point and people that defend Fox will say the guy is nuts.
But he did make some additional points about Fox helping drive some of Paces decisions. I'm still on the fence on this whole thing but fee there is enough there not to just dismiss the whole idea. If there is any truth to it, it may not be a Pace only decision. In any case, it probably should never really be just the GMs decision to begin with. The HC and coordinators should always be involved as should the scouts. The final call is always the GM, but rarely does he not take input from his staff.
So not sure how much the "input" given by Fox is something that drives Chicago Bears decisions.
Michael Jordan might be a bit of a stretch, closest thing to Jordan in the NFL would be a guy like P Manning.
But I agree, I think Watson is the best qb in the draft, and any team in need of a qb come draft day that passes on him is missing the mark.
A "bit" of a stretch? C'mon man! Watson was a late 1st rounder at best on most big boards before the title game. Again, going back to what I said before, it's amazing how trendy the rankings are for the NFL draft. If he would have had a bad game everyone would be talking about how you shouldn't touch Watson before the 4th round. 1 game is able to swing a player 4 rounds it's ridiculous. Same goes for the combine - there will be a few no names who have been pretty unproductive their whole careers but will shoot up the board to the first round because they benched the most reps or had the highest vertical. Why scouts, owners, coaches, GM's continue to buy into the hype just blows my mind.

Except he was seen as the #1 QB going back to last year. He's got a pretty big body of work to take a look at.
Ha ha! Jordan!....none of the Qb's are worth a #3 overall imo
IMO the best route is to go with another defensive stud for Fang at #3 and see who slides down into the 2nd round. Or even take Kaaya and groom him for a year behind Cutler(i just threw up a bit)...hate the sound of it, but it might be the right thing to do even if we have to see one more year of Jay.

From everything he's said he just feels more comfortable with it on. Like I said...he ran for over 1000 yards the year after he tore it, and over 600 yards this year I believe, so I think his knee is in pretty good shape.
might be. It's just one of those things I'd be concerned about and be trying to really understand (I'm sure the teams feel the same way). All Watson (as anyone in the draft would do) is going to say is that the knee is fine and either he feels comfortable with it, he uses it to make sure he won't get injured, etc. But the guy has two knees. I guess he's only worried about getting one of them injured.
As I say, maybe nothing there, but I'd want to be sure.
Teams will know the medical stuff on these guys by the draft, especially a 1st round pick. If there is a problem it will get smoked out.

^^^This.
+1 The entire "body of work" Watson has put together is solid. He may or may not be the best QB in this draft, but that 4th round stuff is delusional. No way, no how, was he EVER going to go in the 4th round. Even if you just go by his 2015 season there is no way he is a 4th round QB.

In a pool of mediocre and unknown QBs. In other drafts he simply wouldn't get the attention he is getting now. He's kind of the tallest midget.
That's not to say he can't turn out to be good pick. But the odds are not favorable. He is very far from a sure thing.

Watson got nitpicked this year, tends to happen to a lot of players, hell Allen is "falling" in the draft and most considered him the best 2nd choice in the draft. Sometimes these guys get over evaluated.

I agree that he's not a sure thing, but that is true about any of these college kids. Even if they have the physical talent they still might not be great at the next level. And I know you know that. I could see all three of the top-3 QBs in this draft go on to be good NFL quarterbacks. And there could be a guy rated lower who could be decent also. Every single year we hear about how it's a bad year for QBs. But over the past 8 or 10 years there have also been some mighty good QBs drafted.
