Yeah...and I get why people are really pissed. Frankly I can't believe I'm not more pissed, but as I said a few months ago...I'm trying to detach myself and look at this situation as an outsider would. As you said, there were multiple factors that led to this result. And no...nobody is saying John Fox is Bill Belichick. The fact remains, this team, for all the talent that was added, still needs more talent, and that talent needs to stay healthy/not get suspended.
Add to that a healthy roster (at least not an epic injury year) and then add to that a 3rd season in these Fox schemes... and the chemistry thing too. It could end up being a lot better year than what people think. Not a sure thing by any means. But it certainly could be a good year. Dallas was 4th in their division in 2015, and won their division in '16. And with a 4th round rookie as their QB. I'm NOT saying that will be us, but I do believe we could be pleasantly surprised by the 2017 team's play.
Then all of the Fox bitching will end, right? LOL, no. People will still not like him.
The eternal question is whether the PERCEIVED results will equal the PERCEIVED additional talent. In other words, will the coaches get all they can out of that talent. I think they did with Floyd. If they can do it with a new QB, we will be on our way. If Fox looks like he is in command, making good calls and winning, then he should get credit for it. I will be wrong, but I will also be happy because then we don't have to do a coaching reset and can just go after a SB. That would be nice for a change.
