I wouldn't count suspensions when talking about Injuries.
No, but when you are trying to say the reason they lost was because they did not have players available (although I also keep hearing how there was no talent so not sure what the value of non talented players on the field would have been anyway) it does strengthen your position to include them.

There are talented players on the team, just not as many as we ultimately need - and some are young/new and still learning and improving. Be that as it may, when starters go down to injury then a lessor player gets anointed the starter. This also hurts chemistry on the units to some extent. We basically have a gutted roster to begin with... basically a new roster of players thrown together in a short period of time. It's not good to shuffle in these bench players when the team is green as a gourd anyway. New players, schemes coaches (Loggains first season here as OC), injuries, talent deficiencies. This makes a bad situation even worse.
We can all argue and question the impact this had on the season, but none of us can know with any certainty how much it screwed our season. But nothing good comes of the situation we just had in 2016. Nothing.
Right now the argument is kind of like crazy people arguing some abstract thing like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I just think it's wasted effort and we should put the 2016 season to rest. It is a well-beaten horse at this point.

But if we have no talent, how does a guy with no talent getting hurt even affect us? The argument is always we have no talent followed by we had too many injuries. So how do injuries of players that have no talent really affect us? Stick another no talent player out there and you have the same thing. Can't have both sides of the argument.

Who is saying we have no talent? People appreciate the talent we have in guys like Goldman, Whitehair, Long and a number of others. But yes, when you lose a guy like Long or Goldman or any of the others, there is a lessor talent - a backup talent - trotted out to take the starter's place.
I feel like I am talking in Swahili. This is pretty basic stuff. Starters > Backups.

Come on now. Who here is saying we have "no talent", as in zero? I think many of us have just said we don't have a lot of talent, and the talent that we did have spent significant time not on the field...for whatever reason. The "talent" that replaced that talent was not very good. I don't really see how this can be argued in any way. I know it's more convenient for some to just think that John Fox and his staff just all of a sudden forgot how to coach the game of football than to blame the actual players on the field playing the game.

All I can think is that people are so pissed about the 2016 season that they want to cherry-pick 1 factor and ignore any other factors. It seems poorly thought out to approach it that way. It seems reasonable to consider multiple and real factors that hurt our season. Some probably hurt us more than others. We can all legitimately disagree on how high or low to rate the individual factors... and that's reasonable.
We do need more talent on the roster IMHO. That is not saying we have "no" talent on our roster (that would be pretty ignorant to think that). But yes, starters > backups. When you lose a starter, like a Kyle Long or a Goldman, or whomever, it does hurt the team. Especially a team loaded with new/young players who entered this season with very little chemistry playing together to begin with. This was the 2nd season for some on the Bears. It was the 1st season for others. Then we end up leading the entire NFL in injuries. Nothing good comes of that.

Yeah...and I get why people are really pissed. Frankly I can't believe I'm not more pissed, but as I said a few months ago...I'm trying to detach myself and look at this situation as an outsider would. As you said, there were multiple factors that led to this result. And no...nobody is saying John Fox is Bill Belichick. The fact remains, this team, for all the talent that was added, still needs more talent, and that talent needs to stay healthy/not get suspended.

It will be interesting to see people's reactions if this 2017 season would end up surprisingly good for us. I'm not saying it will. But the possibility is certainly there. We do have some decent young talent to build upon. I think Pace will significantly improve the roster this off-season. Some of the very positions we are hurting talent-wise, are positions that this draft is unusually deep with quality players this year. We are drafting at #3 or #4 in every round this year - and have two picks in that fourth round. That means we could get 5 picks that help us soon if not immediately. And we have enough FA money to be players there too.
Add to that a healthy roster (at least not an epic injury year) and then add to that a 3rd season in these Fox schemes... and the chemistry thing too. It could end up being a lot better year than what people think. Not a sure thing by any means. But it certainly could be a good year. Dallas was 4th in their division in 2015, and won their division in '16. And with a 4th round rookie as their QB. I'm NOT saying that will be us, but I do believe we could be pleasantly surprised by the 2017 team's play.
Then all of the Fox bitching will end, right? LOL, no. People will still not like him.

Yeah...I'm really looking forward to this off season to see how Pace further stocks this roster. Free agency will be key. In an ideal world I'd like him to address enough issues that it really allows us to go BPA...minus the QB that I believe he has to draft this year.
