Crap. If Hoyer is our primary guy next year, I better start now on pining for another high draft pick.
Walter Football also has mock drafts for the upcoming draft and the next year's draft. Before last year's draft they had the Bears picking first overall in the 2017 draft and they were not far off. I thought they were crazy. Right now they have the Bears picking 6th overall in the 2018 draft. Not very good but at least they see them improving.
Excellent. Since they know that, they must know who our coaches and players will be. Did they share any of that?

LOL They probably have a better idea than I do. Right now I think I'd rather have them running the team instead of the people running it currently.
I just posted that because I remember thinking how they were stupid for predicting the Bears to have the first overall pick this year when most of us thought they were an 8 win team. Turns out they were pretty close and got most of the top teams right, although it wasn't hard to predict the Brown and Niners were going to be bad.
They have the Jets picking first overall next year and they will probably be pretty close with that prediction as well.
There are some good points in this article, even if you don't agree with going after Garoppolo. The Bears (and Pace) have painted themselves into a corner on the QB issue. There is no easy-answer now. We can gamble on Garoppolo, or we can over-draft a guy.
Given the circumstances keeping Cutler now vs trading him would more than likely be a last ditch option if Pace can't manage a trade for a young vet in the last year of his rookie deal and some upside. Garoppolo fits that need and so does a guy like AJ McCarron should Cincy shop him.
Over drafting a QB at #3 overall is the worst option he could possibly choose since if it works out poorly we're right back in cap hell with a QB we can't move on from for cap reasons. Raise your hand if you want to go down that road again this soon? I sure as hell hope not.
Bold move to trade for Cutler; how'd that work out? Giving up multiple picks, some will be high, isn't the answer when the "bold move" hasn't played more then 2 games, and is in the most qb friendly O system in the NFL.
There is a reason NE drafted another qb, and is now looking to trade Jimmy G; it's matt cassel all over again.
Well first of all you aren't looking at all of the reasons why NE drafted Brissett and why they may have more of a NEED to trade Garoppolo than a DESIRE to do so. It's only what fits your viewpoint you're willing to consider Ric. And don't even go there with the Matt Cassel thing. There is little or no comparison of the two anyone could make other than they were drafted by NE. I don't think you'll find many even here who'll buy your comparison.
How'd the Cutler trade work out? He's the best QB in the history of the team so you tell me. The fact that he's not received a whole lot of ancillary support and has played on some of the lousiest teams we've ever had isn't all on him and despite that he's won more games for us than anyone else did in this Millennium. So over all it wasn't a bad trade just not one with the best outcome. I can only imagine how much worse it might have been with guys like Grossman, Orton and some of the other jewels we've had.
Some may disagree...but I've never been big on Kaaya. I have a guy who played with him that I'll ask his opinion..but I've never thought highly of him.
Nor have I. Another deep south QB with a questionable arm. I'll just say it outright. We don't play in a dome and neither does GB. You don't bring in a QB with questionable arm strength to play 8 homes games outdoors in the NFCN and another against GB. You need guys who have arms like Cutler, Rodgers, and Stafford.
I was being flippant with my comment about Catherine Webb, but I'm not gonna lie, McCarren intrigues me. He has done well when given the opportunity in Cincy and I can't believe he didn't go until the 5th round of the draft. Obviously, his outstanding players around him were given more credit than he got. His college game was in a Pro-Style offense and now he has pro level experience. This kid could be ready and he wouldn't cost as much as Jimmy G.
It's certainly worth a closer look.
If Cincy shops him I think he's a fall back guy to not being able to make a deal for Garoppolo who I feel is a better prospect for both us and overall.
In addition he'll make a little less money in 2017 and cost less to trade for. If we can get a mid round pick for Cutler we may be able to use that same pick in trade for McCarron and now we have a potential starter for 2017 and quite possibly beyond. Then a later round pick of another QB would also make more sense. Spending the #3 pick on a "reach" IMHO does not.
Frankly I might prefer trading that pick to the team who wants Fournette and pick up a ton of draft booty to fill other positions like S and CB with since those ARE reported to be strong positions in this draft. QB is not.

Ditto. Have the Bears contacted you yet; they could use a bit of soul in the front office.

I know I liked the idea of bringing him in and developing him as a prospect in the mid rounds, haven't seen what he has done in the NFL. Not much there either, 7 games played, his stats aren't terrible.
He'd definitely cost less in picks and in contract then jimmy g, and he has more game experience.
Yes in all likelihood he would but not a whole lot more game experience. He has 3 starts vs 2 for Jimmy G. The lesser cost is the benefit more than starting experience and actually JG has been active for twice as many games.
But it's good to see you're open minded to a trade. Just not JG huh? Is that because you dislike JG as much as you do Cutler or simply because I suggested it. I find it funny how you are flipping your opinion here for a QB who may not be quite as good.

My problem w/Jimmy G is the cost of the trade(multiple picks one being a 1st rounder) and the cost of the franchise qb contract that has to be given to him w/2 starts under his belt. My other issue is that Billy B runs as friendly a qb O as there is in the game so you cannot take much of what you even saw to heart.
