I was being flippant with my comment about Catherine Webb, but I'm not gonna lie, McCarren intrigues me. He has done well when given the opportunity in Cincy and I can't believe he didn't go until the 5th round of the draft. Obviously, his outstanding players around him were given more credit than he got. His college game was in a Pro-Style offense and now he has pro level experience. This kid could be ready and he wouldn't cost as much as Jimmy G.

It's certainly worth a closer look.
I know I liked the idea of bringing him in and developing him as a prospect in the mid rounds, haven't seen what he has done in the NFL. Not much there either, 7 games played, his stats aren't terrible.
He'd definitely cost less in picks and in contract then jimmy g, and he has more game experience.

4dabears, I pointed this out in the other QB trade or draft thread. McCarron could be an interesting option and he won't cost as much as JG.
Bold move to trade for Cutler; how'd that work out? Giving up multiple picks, some will be high, isn't the answer when the "bold move" hasn't played more then 2 games, and is in the most qb friendly O system in the NFL.
There is a reason NE drafted another qb, and is now looking to trade Jimmy G; it's matt cassel all over again.
+ 1
I'm sure Belichick would be a "nice guy" and take our draft picks He's very generous that way.
Crap. If Hoyer is our primary guy next year, I better start now on pining for another high draft pick.
Walter Football also has mock drafts for the upcoming draft and the next year's draft. Before last year's draft they had the Bears picking first overall in the 2017 draft and they were not far off. I thought they were crazy. Right now they have the Bears picking 6th overall in the 2018 draft. Not very good but at least they see them improving.
