4. Matt Eberflus and his staff will get to the bottom of who screwed up on the Hail Mary.
LOL at that one ^^^
Matt Eberflus is the defensive play caller, and the architect of this defense... these are HIS schemes being run - and he doesn't "know" who screwed up on that play? Cmon.
Matt Eberflus on how he looks back at allowing Terry McLaurin, who was unguarded, to get 13 yards on the 2nd to last play and out of bounds with 2 seconds remaining.
"Because you're defending touchdown, right? You're defending touchdown there. And them throwing the ball for 13 yards or 10 yards, whatever that is, doesn't really matter. It's always going to come down to that last play."
I would argue that it does matter, because it set up an attainable Hail Mary attempt. If McLaurin is tackled in bounds, the game is over. There is no chance at a final play. If he's defended, maybe he doesn't get a first down and the Commanders to midfield, thus further preventing the Hail Mary execution. If the pass rush isn't in this weird prevent, rush 3 mindset (almost exact same design as the final play), maybe Jayden Daniels gets stifled up front and doesn't have an attempt to throw a ball 65ish yards down field.

She's absolutely correct.
THE. MOST. IMPORTANT. PLAY. in the game.
"them throwing the ball for 13 yards or 10 yards, whatever that is, doesn't really matter." ~ Matt Eberflus
I heard that comment yesterday from Eberflus. At the time I heard it I was a bit stunned. Because if he thinks like that, well, no wonder the in-game mistakes continue to flow on gamedays. Once again the Bears crapped the bed in front of a national sports audience. Eberflus is carrying on the Bears' pitiful coaching tradition. I have a feeling he punched his ticket out of Chicago yesterday. He has 10 more games as head coach here.

I said before it was the play before that that mattered most. You properly defend that play they don't get the fifteen yards colser to throw the hail mary. They also don't get the last two seconds to throw the hail mary. The hail mary should never have happened. Instead his defenders are in the wrong position, he's running around like a chicken with his head cut off - on the field no less - trying to change the play and he's got three timeouts he could have used. This is the last straw, he might be a good beekeeper and a good person, but he is NOT a decent head coach.
I am totally flustrated with flus' flubs and I am blowing my flugelhorn on the flush flustered flus bandwagon until the day he gets fluxed.

I don't think so JABF. While Poles is there, I think he has a job

While Poles is here his job is on the line too. I hope he can make the right decision - the one that's best for the team and for himself.
I do get it. That play allowed the Hail Mary play. But there are hundreds of plays each weekend that then allow other plays. But you then have to make sure that the other play does not succeed. So I get it. However, even having said that, the fact is still that the play DID allow the Hail Mary so to publicly keep saying it did not matter is tone deaf. He is not making any friends with that.
How to stop the Hail Mary. My meatball fan solution: You rush 6 guys so the QB doesn’t have time to throw and the WR doesn’t have time to get into position. Make sure your DEs keep the damn QB contained in the pocket, and don’t have Sweat on the damn bench.
Put Odunze and Moore in the end zone to compete for the ball. You need length and jumping ability — high point wins. Do NOT try to catch the ball. Slap it forward and down. If you just tip it, you can have what happened yesterday.
"...And then Matt Eberflus inserted himself into the [expletive] game.
Let’s start with the second to last play of the game. Do you know what they teach defensive backs when they’re 13 years old in a situation like that? TAKE AWAY THE SIDELINES. Force the ball into the middle of the field, and guess what? It’s an incompletion, or the game is over. IT’S ACTUALLY SIMPLE.
Eberflus not only gives them the sidelines, he doesn’t even defend anything. He gives them a free 15 yards to set up a midfield Hail Mary. And then, this guy has the gall to say that play didn’t matter. Jayden Daniels launched that ball 65 yards, and it was just short of the goal line. What do you think happens if the Commanders are 15 yards further back, Matt? Did you flunk second-grade arithmetic?
I thought this guy was a good defensive coach.
And let’s talk about the last play, and we’ll save Tyrique Stevenson for later. But what are you doing with T.J. Edwards? Why are you spying Jayden Daniels from midfield? What the [expletive] did you think was going to happen? Daniels was going to take off down the field and run for a 52-yard touchdown with 8 defenders to beat and only 3 or 4 wide receivers trying to block for him? Not even Jayden Daniels is working his way through that defense. Come the [expletive] on. You played 10 on 11 on the final play. Maybe you push another defender deep and the play is properly covered. Maybe you rush 4, and Jayden Daniels doesn’t have THIRTEEN seconds to get the ball off. Something. Anything than having Edwards playing hopscotch at the 50-yard line.
Matt Eberflus should be humiliated. There are defensive coaches across the league laughing at what he did on that play. Laughing!..."
