If the top 7 LT's make 20m, then you WANT to be paying your LT 20mil b/c it means he's a top 7 LT.
the fact that Jones wouldn't even be in that conversation says everything you need to know why you shouldn't keep him at LT.
If you want to go that route, then don’t complain that we can’t keep him, because it would cost $20M. You can’t have it BOTH ways. Illogical.
what other way? you want to pay your QB, your LT and your DE top money. The rest of the team is where you try and get average to above average. You never go cheap on LT NEVER.
edit you want to pay them b/c they earned the pay not b/c *thats the going rate*.

Statistically, Brax performance is well above average LT. You don’t agree, but it’s true not just PFF but also ESPN data. I looked at the salary list, and they are making $15-17M. I predict Poles is going to keep Brax and should pay him in that range. It will piss you off. I will giggle. And if Poles treats him like Monty or Smith, some other GM will be happy to pay him like the Lions and Ravens did for Monty and Smith.

statistically. his play on the field isn't stats and he's ass and the Bears should want to do better then what he is.

Yes, your opinion is well-established. I predict Poles will differ, but my opinion is contingent on how he performs the rest of 2024.

Well Poles shown a complete disregard of having a quality OL, let alone a dominant, so I'm not sure that really is a positive or proof of a point.
How would you compare Brax to Charles Leno? I would never call Leno “elite”, but at his prime, I would rather have him on my Super Bowl ready 2025 team than an unknown rookie LT drafted in first round. That’s how I see Brax.

Yes because overpaying one middling LT justifies us paying another.

Well, that applies to them all — like paying Davis $30M or Edmunds $72M.

You're defeating your own point.
Stop giving big money contracts to mid level players who play at extremely important positions.
You cannot say out of one side of your mouth about how we have a Super Bowl window while at the same time comparing our LT to Charles Leno of all people while knowing our OL is not good.
The draft capital is there to take a shot at getting a franchise LT which is the second most important position on the football field. Or if we can't afford it because the cost to move up to 5 is too high then let's not act like giving a mid-grade LT a big second contract is a no brainer. That's a great way to build an average football team that resides in cap hell.

So, if the Bears aren’t Super Bowl ready 2025, it won’t be because Brax is still at LT. It will be more about the rest of the OL. Brax has played well this year except for the Rams game. Leno was also underrated by some people around here.
How often does a rookie LT play lights out? That’s a big unknown — much more than Brax in 2025 — my Super Bowl ready window.
Amegadjie is still the wild card in this. I wish they’d give him some snaps so we can have a clue what we have there. It would be reckless to let Brax go and assume Amegadjie can take over the job.
