I agree! I wasn't making a political statement so much as i was providing a possible reason of the disparity in celebrity recognition by the network in this particular instance.
Taylor Swift, whether you like it or not or agree with it or not, is a WORLDWIDE superstar. Biles, is an American sports superstar. The two aren't remotely the same. And I'm not trying to take anything away from Biles...she's the goat! But music will always be more popular than gymnastics.
LOL She's a Bubble gum pop star suddenly after she went nowhere on the Country scene. I wouldn't see her on free tickets. She'll eventually fade away into obscurity. Much like Lady blah blah and katy Perry.

Well, you're not exactly her demographic...so I don't think she's all that worried about you not wanting to see her. I also doubt 12 year old girls care much about her vocal range and whether Whitney Houston (who they don't know) is better. Last I checked Lady Gaga is still selling out shows and starring in movies. One could only wish for that type of "obscurity".

Whitney Houston's Demographic was 12 year old girls too. But, she was blessed with some pipes and perfected her craft to provide a high quality performance. Because she was an artist and obligated to give the very best of what she had to give.
I certainly hope you know football better than you know music.

I am not sure why we are arguing over who is the best artist. butkus3595 merely pointed out that Swift fills the stands and has millions of lil soldiers who will scoop up anything she puts out. That in itself would make her a music icon, even if you or I agree with her music.
I am sick of hearing about her too but guess what? Her little Swift army don't care what us oldish folks think of it. It is their world and we are just breathing in it until the next big pop thing comes out.
I listen to all genres of music and I can honestly say I enjoy ALL forms of music. I found that if you listen enough you will always find something you can jam too. I also found that if I just opened just a little bit. Swift can sound all right too. Perhaps you should just transport yourself back to a lil hoodlum and think of being young again.

Well...seeing as how this is a football board and not a music one...I'd say yeah, I know football better than I know music. Doesn't change the facts of anything I said. Whitney also came from a family of great singers...us Jersey people know all about our gifts to the world!

From my standpoint I'm just arguing a quality product vs. non quality product. There was a time when people argued who had the better vehicle. Whether it be a car or a pickup truck, Ford or Chevy. i was once a big Ozzy fan. But, once i picked up an instrument and learned something about music. I came to discover that compared with other metal singers, he sucks.

fair enough. But one more point i'd like to make is that the youth of today doesn't really know what's goin on. So, can't say i have a lot of faith in their musical tastes. Much less anything else. They're getting a little out of hand. If you hadn't noticed. In some very bizarre ways in fact.

Says every older generation about every younger generation since the beginning of time...
Let me tell you, as someone who works with the youth of today every day...they know a lot more than you or I ever knew at their age and they're going to be more than ok. If any age group has been letting us down lately, it is most certainly the older ones.
And thats about as out of line as I'm going to get on this board, since its not the spirit of it. Have a great day.

Yes, they do for sure. And as in EVERY generation, you have the ones that are sharp, knowledgeable and involved. Then you have the lazy ones that have no clue about much. And the whole spectrum in the middle.
