"Caleb Williams dropped back 57 times today against the worst rushing defense in the NFL."
There is no run blocking so there is no run game. This is what happens when you KNOW you can't run the ball. There isn't an OL that can run-block, and Swift is sure not the answer at RB. Do you think the Bears want to be pass happy with a rookie QB1? Hell no. But when you can't run, well, what the heck DO you do? You are screwed. Ryan Poles needs to put an NFL quality offensive line out there in 2025 and, yes, we need a RB who can get it done behind that OL. This isn't rocket science. The OL is a clown show out there. Hard to watch an OL that bad on gamedays. Dudes suck.
I am going to wait until the bye week before I definitely say the dye is cast. But I'll be posting an Oline thread for FA & the draft soon. 😉😉
+1 And one positive note, is that this team is fixable if they do follow through and invest top level resources into the OL (both draft and FA money). In fact, it's not that tough to build an OL. You just gotta invest and enjoy the R.O.I. on that investment for the next 10+ seasons. I have to believe Ryan Poles is smart enough to understand that 2025 needs to (finally) be the "year of the lineman" and (finally) built a high-quality offensive line. If he eventually get fired in Chicago, I believe it will be largely due to his OL failure - that will result in a Caleb Williams failure.

What I don't get is, we were #2 last year in rushing. Majority of the oline is still here. How did we regress so badly in the oline? This is why coaching matters.

This is not the same OL. Fields is gone. Swift requires a legit OL to run these plays well. We do miss Monty who could run better without an OL.

Unfortunately, we did not want to pay him. We needed the money for Nate.
VJJ, Davis, Swift, all guys that don't deserve to be starting over the guys behind them(well VJJ not so much), all guys that Poles brought in. Seems the coaches acquiesce to the GM in who sees playing time and how much; at least until they prove w/out question they don't deserve the time.
RonJohn and Herbert both had better days then Swift, but Swift was in there at the end of the game and on the goalline. Was listening to the failure of a video game, like 100mill's in losses failure, and an insider said there was an environment of toxic positivity. I have to wonder if it's not the same w/Poles in HH and Flus in the lockerroom.

I can't disagree with anything is this video even though it is a rant. The coaching staff has been a complete disaster this season.
How Chris Morgan (OL coach/Run coordinator) still has a job is beyond me.

This! 100% on Flus and I venture Waldron kept him to appease him.

The pass protection is abysmal, but the running game is even worse. Swift is averaging 1.8 yards per carry and the Bears (as of today) rank 31st in the entire NFL in rushing. I wonder though, how much of this is on the OL, and how much is on Shane Waldron's "offense" - and of course how much is on the OL and Run Game Coordinator. The end result though is pretty ugly. It is butt-ugly football, painful to watch.

So, yeah things are not working well. All across the board, unfortunately. But the good thing is that every week, they seem to get a little better. If we could only find a team worse than the Colts to play (that's not named the Bears), we could be ok
