The team had 63 yards rushing today. They have averaged 72 yards rushing per game this season through three games. Swift looks pitiful. With three games in the books, he is averaging 1.8 yards per carry. That stat absolutely blows my mind.
This offense is so broken. Without a viable run game it makes it so much easier to shut down the offense and Caleb. The team is averaging 17 points per game. You can't win in the NFL that way.
I just don’t get it. It seems that having a credible run game is an important aspect to develop a young QB. I find it hard to believe that all of our backs suddenly sank below mediocrity. Certainly playing from behind so often these last three games has tightened up the opportunity to sustain commitment to the run game. But it seems during the games we just give it up after a token play. I thought for sure this game, with the Colts poor run defense, our plan would be to slow the game down and rely heavily on the run. Nope.

Monty running well today — over 100 yds. His best trait is “yards after contact”. He would have scored for us on one of those three runs by Herbert on the 1-yd. line. Poles should have paid him instead of $24 million to Swift when we have Herbert for $1 million who can run as well as Swift. We’re really missing Monty and Fields in the running game.

We were the 2nd best running team in the entire NFL last year (LINK). The Shane Waldron "offense" has us producing 72 rushing yards per game. That trajectory would produce a last place in the NFL - by far - based on last year's league rushing stats. It would be 1224 yards for the season. Shameful.

And when Fields ran for 1,000 yards, we were #1. He’s gone. Monty is gone. The OL is mush this year, and Waldron is stubbornly running Swift into the “A Gap” for 2 yards over and over.

It is. I think they thought they brought that in when they went and got Swift. But they didn't

"Caleb Williams dropped back 57 times today against the worst rushing defense in the NFL."
There is no run blocking so there is no run game. This is what happens when you KNOW you can't run the ball. There isn't an OL that can run-block, and Swift is sure not the answer at RB. Do you think the Bears want to be pass happy with a rookie QB1? Hell no. But when you can't run, well, what the heck DO you do? You are screwed. Ryan Poles needs to put an NFL quality offensive line out there in 2025 and, yes, we need a RB who can get it done behind that OL. This isn't rocket science. The OL is a clown show out there. Hard to watch an OL that bad on gamedays. Dudes suck.

I am going to wait until the bye week before I definitely say the dye is cast. But I'll be posting an Oline thread for FA & the draft soon. 😉😉
