This might be the only thread I read for the rest of the week. The amount of MSU and revisionist retelling of what people "thought at the time" is depressing.
Didn't think they would beat the Texans, they can beat the Colts.

Actually, that is exactly where I am at. didn't think they could beat the Texans but do think they can beat the Colts. But who knows. They are listed as the underdogs against the Colts. I guess they deserve it with how they have played, but I still think they should beat the Colts. If they don't, it will be beyond embarrassing

I didn't expect to win either. Said so in the pregame thread.
But there's a difference between losing and losing ugly. We lost ugly. The only reason that wasn't a 31-10 blowout was that the D is superb and held a high-powered O to 1 TD on their home turf.

I figured we'd lose, it's just upsetting how we lost. And we had a chance to win too. Oh well, that was last week, this is this week. Corral the colts and Lets Go Bears!

+1 And I'd add that a lot of Bears fans are so tired of the same issues hurting the team. It is really really hard to watch Bears quarterbacks being put behind offensive lines that fail to pass protect. And as if that were not enough, THIS season the team can't run the ball either. Even is bad seasons we'd a least see average running the ball, and some seasons we'd see excellent running. This season though, the RBs are getting under 3 yards per carry. It's hard to accept that.

Its really hard to watch the same crappy Bears offense year after year after year. Usually its the passing game that's horrible. Right now it's both running and passing that sucks.
I'm so fed up with watching 1970s football with the Bears trying to win games 13-10. Are we EVER gonna score points?
Let's see if the offensive line can get their act together, and actually begin to block people and open up holes for our RBs to run through. Tired of watching this pitiful run-blocking.

Twitter Discussion I found interesting:
Let Ryan Poles Eat @polesplseat
Greg, I trust your analysis because you were the one who had concerns about not many deep shots in 2023 camp. Since we haven't seen many through 2 games so far, is this something you noticed in 2024 camp as well?
Greg Braggs Jr. @gbraggsjr23
Not at all. They attacked all 3 levels at camp. The deep ball was literally non-existent last year. Literally. Everything was side to side and underneath. Which is what we thought Fields needed to work on. Turns out, that's all they could run.
This year, I didn't see the amount of side to side stuff at camp that we've seen so far in these first 2 weeks. It's shocking, honestly. At b saw many post/skinny posts up the seams, over the tops down the sidelines, deep crossers thrown with anticipation, slants, out routes with anticipation, clever screen games. All 3 levels, and it got better as camp went on.
The biggest issues at camp for the offense were false starts, and I guess if I'm being fair to it now, Caleb's accuracy wasn't always exact on every throw. I can remember charting days and saying there overthrows and underthrows but chalking that up to the amount of reps he was getting. There were just as many dots to my eyes, so I wasn't anticipating the amount of inaccurate passes we've seen so far, which is essentially all of his throws to this point in the regular season. I assumed we would see some bad throws but also some dots. So far, barely any dots. Especially the type of dots I saw at camp.
Ultimately, the biggest issue is that they need time to gel. It's the simplest answer, but it's the right one. No one should be getting a pass necessarily but at the same time I don't think we can fairly evaluate anyone on the offense until they figure out what plays they want to call, how they want to execute them, recognizing what they are seeing at the LOS and getting a feel for each other. I'm now keeping an open mind to literally everyone. Caleb, Waldron, Swift, the OLine. Even Nate Davis.
They simply need time to hash this shit out. The question is, how long will it take? The next 3 weeks? Before Green Bay? December? Next year? If the coaches do their job it should be sooner than later that they can be a competent offense and not the embarrassment we've seen so far. But if anyone's asking when they'll be this high octane dream we've all been thinking about? I don't have that answer. It all essentially comes down to when things will slow down for Caleb and he can start to get comfortable with the looks he's getting.

Another Question and Answer on twitter:
Conlin Wing @itsconlinwing
It’s still early, but was training camp telling of how the season has looked to this point, both offensively and defensively? I know there were numerous red flags that the offense might be stagnant in 2023 camp— curious if we could’ve predicted a slow start.
Greg Braggs Jr. @gbraggsjr23
So what threw me off about this year's Training Camp was there absolutely was signs in the first couple weeks that this was going to be a big work in progress for the offense.
But then, as the weeks went on (long camp), the offense played better and better. Then they started doing positive things in preseason. My biggest encouragement was when they played very well vs the Bengals in that joint practice. All of that made me assume they were further ahead than they actually were. And that's on me.
Nothing the defense is doing is surprising. Well, other than Darrel Taylor coming out of nowhere. But the defense has been dominant like this since minicamps.
