He actually ran better running north/south as a RB. He was making a cut and was pretty impressive. His yards after contact were good too. He is a powerful dude as well as fast. On that one run he planted that foot, cut, and was gone... people looked like they were in slow-motion trying to catch him.
I doubt they will even try to run him up the middle. We shall see.
They already have been using him on some plays that way and he's done well. Better than those old jet sweeps things as a WR. Part of it is the fact that teams don't know what to expect from him at RB because he is more versatile now. I don't like him as a gadget play guy at all because I don't like gadget players anyway. Far better to have an RB who can challenge a defense in multiple ways - instead of defenses knowing a guy is a one trick pony jet sweep WR dude.

He was running against second and third team defenses. It would be stupid to use him much instead of Swift for that. If I’m wrong, get the crow meat ready.
I think folks exaggerate too much how a mid OL will "get a QB killed". That isn't how anything works.
Tell that to Andrew Luck and a number of other QB1's who were abused and had shortened or diminished careers after being roadkill far too often. I'll spare you the more gruesome videos of some of those QB1's over the years. An OL matters. Matters a lot. One one of the reasons the Lions are back is due to that OL they've put out there in front of Goff. At least that's my belief.
"Tell that to X" is perfect case of a cherry-picked example, and not a rule or even tendency to be true.
That would put us out on the ledge even earlier than usual
It's a team game and Caleb isn't the only reason the Bears will win or lose.
Promise I won't make this a habit - but quoting myself here because it really did come down to the rest of the team & will for most of this season.
Velus almost screwed them with his fumble, and they just can't trust him on KR or PR any more (although they WILL likely give him more shots when they think risk is low).
I do still like Velus as a RB. The guy has wheels, and i stand by my wish to see him in a COP role behind Swift and Juice (but not in front of Juice!!).

Not if they give multiple examples, and there are multiple examples; just in Chicago. A Bad OL, especially a really bad IOL bad for young qb's. Go back and find the times Brady or other great qbs, even late in their career got that kind of consistent pressure up front and you'll see they had their worst games also.
A Bad OL is a QB's worst friend, and very few can play to their ceiling with one. Romo is one of the few I can think of, and he never could do anything in the playoffs.
