Also, Dexter and Billings should get many more snaps inside than Walker.
What is your personal opinion of Walker, not what other people write?
My God man...why is this so hard for you? Billings is not a pass rusher. He will be out on obvious pass downs and it will be Dexter and Walker at DT.
My God man….with exceptions for score, clock time… obvious passing down is 3rd-and-long. Most downs are NOT 3rd-and-long. I want Billings — not Walker — for those downs.
So doing a crowdsearch, CBS, ESPN, Bearswire, Ourlads, NBC, NBC Chicago(different site), profootball network, 7 different sites, all have Walker as the starter oppo Sweat. Some have Booker as backup/depth, some don't.
Does that mean anything, well probably slightly more than fans opinions. Some of these sites will have some information or understanding of what the Bears are thinking.
My guess is that both make the team, which is what Hoge/Jahns have started to believe, so add another writer to that to make a nice even number 8. We should remember that the DE's job is not just to rush the passer, they have to set the edge and stop the run also; most cannot do both so there is normally a need for guys that can do 1 of the 2 well.

The question of this thread is not whether Walker will be #1 on the depth chart. Obviously, he is. The question is whether he ought to be. What is your opinion of Walker?
Also, the question is not whether both guys will get playing time or whether Walker will play DE on first down and Taylor/Booker on third down. That’s also already settled.
The question is whether Walker should be elevated over Booker and Booker relegated to #3 on depth chart and get significantly fewer snaps in 2024.

Doesn't matter if anyone other than the coaches think he ought or ought not. It is only a matter of if he is or isn't. You concede he is, so what's the point of this thread? Do any of us, individual or as a collective have a say, or any influence on what the coaches do? Do you really think you know more than the coaching staff that have 100% of the information when you have barely a fraction?

This is also a familiar refrain. We don’t have a say, but we can still talk about it. Or can we ONLY discuss on this forum what is most likely to happen? That would be pretty damn boring.

Booker hasn't played in the NFL yet, so we'll see how he does in real games. He needs a year of development physically and technique-wise too. Can he help the team this year? Yes, I believe so. I think he has a high ceiling.
Walker has proven to be a "good but not great" player. He will be a much needed asset this season in a rotation. No, he's not the sexy player but a decent one - especially in a DL rotation this year. Next year I expect Poles to upgrade the OL and DL with those top-3 picks in next year's draft, and Booker being much-improved.

Getting back to my question, what’s your opinion of Walker?
I think like most of the roster outside of Williams, Sweat, Moore, Johnson and Wright there is no one on this team that really matters. Don't care about Walker or Booker b/c neither are going to be the reason this team wins or loses or gets to or doesn't get to a SB.

Brax got his year of development playing on the field, not sitting on the bench 80% of the time. Walker, in that regard, is holding back Booker’s development. I think we have different evaluations of these guys. I don’t see Walker as “good”. I rate him “borderline average”. I want Booker as my starting DE on the Super Bowl ready team 2025-26, and I am using those draft picks next year for a center and RG.

Huh? You saying ONLY Pro Bowl players matter? You can have 6 Pro Bowl players, but you will lose if you are weak at other positions. You know that. You are still ducking my question.
