Boy, where have I heard that before. Guess we lose out this season, get rid of him and try another first round pick, lol
Seriously, the QB can only do what he is allowed to do. Either by the scheme or the OL. We all know that a talented QB can't do much if he is running for his life. CW does seem better at throwing it away rather than trying to get something out of nothing so maybe he will survive even if he doesn't move the ball
We hear this every year but our Oline isn't even that bad. Ranked #16 which is middle of the pack. We've invested a ton of resources on the Oline. If Williams can't make it, its on him. Not the offense.
16) Chicago Bears Starting five: LT Braxton Jones, LG Teven Jenkins, C Ryan Bates, RG Nate Davis, RT Darnell Wright
The Chicago Bears have used every available method of player acquisition to bolster their offensive line. Wright and Jenkins were early-round draft picks, Jones was a late-round selection, Davis was a free agent signing, and Bates was a trade pickup.
We should be giving Williams as much rep as possible. Dude is a rookie QB and needs to learn how to play the game at a high level. You don't do that by sitting out.
how many of those 5 are injured? How many reps have they gotten as a single complete unit so far? If Williams can't make it, we will still need to consider other causes, just like with prior QBs. It's not as simple as it's the QB's fault. It NEVER is. It may be PARTLY the QB's fault... There are 50 shades of blue between baby blue and Bears blue.

I 100% agree with this. We should be playing our offense more to give them reps. We have a rookie QB, rookie WR, a ton of new faces on offense including Oline, WR, and RB.
I understand 2 years ago when Fields had Mooney as his best WR who is at best a #3 WR. We have a Hall of Fame WR, a top 10ish WR, and a top 10 pick at WR who would of gone a lot higher if it wasn't for 2 very good WR prospects and 4 QBs going in the top 10. We also have a 1k back RB as well as a top 10 receiving TE.
I'm not expecting CJ Stroud 4k passing stats but I am expecting 3k passing stats with the weapons he has. His floor has to be higher than Backup Justin Fields floor.

So when opponents blow by them, we should all chant "but your rated #16!!"?

This would be SUCH a waste of talent if Williams could not play well because of the line. We are only going to have Allen on this team for this year. Yeah, our WR room is great even without him, but for crying out loud.... I would love to see this offense working to it's potential. It could literally be one of the best in the league. I think the Loins passed on theoir curse to us.

I agree, but hope (LOL always that "hope" thing, right?) I hope the OL can be better. IF they are then CW will do well. If not then he won't. This OL will set the ceiling for the team this year. Could be good. Could be pretty bad. Only time will tell.

Well, Josh Allen is pretty good. I guess we will find out how good our D is against something other than our own OL. It's only preseason, but hopefully there will be clues. Bills first team only to play one quarter. I don't think the Bears have announced what they plan to do with their first team yet. I'm thinking wrap Williams up in bubble wrap and send the Michelin man out there to see if he survives.
