Nate Davis is in year two of his FA contract here a Bear. According to my never wrong formula of FA success, he will have a great year. There's can be a down year with a FA in their first year, but second year is all business. It never fails, except when it does.

He’s not off to a “great” start in his second year. At this point, it doesn’t appear he’s very interested in football.
It’s day 1 of team activities, I refuse to worry about any player at this point. I'll start thinking about Nate Davis when camp starts. At that point I'll be starting to lesson plan for the start of school, so actually I won't worry about Nate Davis until news breaks that he is OK or he's been cut/released/replaced.
Matt Pryor has taken over the job so far in practices. Does Davis think he can just waltz into training camp and play a new offense?
The biggest problem for Williams so far is the cadence. There are reportedly false starts all over the OL. Davis needs to be there along with the rest of them to get the cadence worked out. This stuff takes time.
That is honestly the least of my worries. Everyone is learning a new offense, and you have a rookie QB on top of it. It's going to look messy, even going into the year.
There should be flashes of good things, but a realistic expectation would be for it to start to gel fully by the last 4 games of the season.

Here is a video with more on the Nate Davis front. Basically, Davis has started with some on the field activity. But not fully active. Eberflus was asked specifically if Davis is still the starter at RG. Ad he gave (IMO) a creative coach-s[eak response. Basically, a well crafted non-answer.

As for Nate Davis - I had my concerns with him last year. He looked good against average players, but when up against an elite player, he often got his ass handed to him.
He's ok for a fill in role until you can draft someone, but I am hoping that there is a better option that can push him - maybe the center they got from the Rams?
As for what's going on right now, they may be holding him out as an injury precaution. They want everyone healthy for training camp, so I wouldn't read anything into OTAs.

Lorin Cox suggests Bates at RG and Shelton at center. That might be the best option if Davis can’t get his s** together.
How can a player in Pittsburg return a kick in Philly?
Bears should have drafted a guard in the first place instead of a tackle. But they converted Jenkins to guard, so maybe they can try the new guy at guard, if Davis is AWOL again.
lol..... You have to have long legs. Yeah... I guess I said Philly. Brain must have stopped working for a sec. Hey, at least I'm in the right state
I thought the MSU had kicked in and you were trying to tell us the Steelers were gonna do some type of rental thing with him this season.
The IOL situation continúes to be a WIP, and honestly is shaky at best now, but hopefully Davis steps it up. With the Jenkins injuries, the center position not settled, and RG now an issue it makes you wonder at least when are we going to have a rock solid and stable Oline? We can't keep playing this instability game year after year.

My hope is that the offense continues to improve throughout the summer, and continue that game-by-game in the regular season. I do agree that it will look messy at times. I did like hearing the veterans in their press conferences talking about how Caleb is a fast learner who is improving bit-by-bit every single practice. I especially liked hearing the positives from the Bears' defense guys about him. But yeah, it's going to be a journey all year long for him. It should be a fun season though to watch these young guys develop (not just Caleb).
