You are talking the difference between 17.5 and the two rotational players that would otherwise take all the snaps at or tight DE. The real net increase in productivity would be something like 5 - 7 sacks in all.
IMO that is not worth a 2nd round pick. Especially if Poles and Cunningham already have guys on their radar for the 2025 draft who could be stars at the position (or at 3T) who will likely produce similar numbers and who we can sign for a 4 or 5 year rookie contract.
I don't know that you can actually say that anyone "likely" to do anything actually does
How can you look at a college player and predict that he’s “likely” to EVER have 17.5 sacks? The vast majority of first round DEs never do. Poles traded two Pro Bowl players this age and younger for second round picks.

I guess the same way you can say JSB will light it up and we will be sorry. I am not even gonna mention that DT from Philly.

JSB?
The DT from Philly was close second for Defensive Rookie of the Year with two terrible defensive coordinators— one fired during the season. Vic FAngio is there now.
And what does any of this have to do with the topic?
Kinda want to know where the stats say Sweat is better?
Well...Sweat is only 27, which is kind of important when considering a big money extension. Beyond that, despite playing in two less seasons than Hendrickson, Sweat has 19 more solo tackles and 30 more assisted tackles than Hendricks does, and he averages 2 more QB hits per season than Hendrickson does. Sweat also only has 1 less TFL than Hendrickson and 2 less forced fumbles. The only stat Hendrickson has been more productive than Sweat is in sacks and their yearly average is pretty close to even in that area actually.
Does that answer your question?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Hendrickson is older and he's been a little less consistent IMO.

Sweat will be 28 this year, and Hendrickson 30. That’s pretty irrelevant for those aiming at 2025-26 to be Super Bowl ready. By 2027 Sweat is at the end of his contract and 31.
Over the last 4 years, Sweat averaged 31 tackles and 8 sacks. Hendrickson averaged 33.5 tackles and 13 sacks. His WORST sack year was Sweat’s AVERAGE year. He is worth a second round pick.
What is 8 worth? Cause thats the amount of sacks he had the year before his 17.5. You can cherry pick all you want...it's the CAREER in totality and the current area of the arc that its on that matters.
8>17.5 Looks like he’s getting better at the job!
Or...thats his peak...he's hitting 30 and its all down hill from here...

You act like Khalil Mack didn't have an 17 sack season at the age of 32...
There have been people around here for years claiming guys age 30 are washed up. A Pro Bowl player can decline 20% and still be productive. There are countless examples.
