Excellent summary of todays Bears 🐻. The last 2 drafts (and related trades) were exceptional. Very excited about where we’re at and the direction we’re headed. My only concern is Flus but if Poles is committed to him, good enough. The Fields / Williams thing holds little value to me as I felt Fields wasn’t going to get us where we want to go.
It was a total teardown just 2 years ago. Remember David's "lost dogs"?
Aided by some good luck, Poles has done a phenomenal job. The only major blunder was Claypool. Other than that, he's won almost everything.
Ever since the Bears got rid of Claypool, things have improved.
So, for me, this is one of the best drafts I can remember.
Then I go back to last year. It was maybe one of the historic draft hauls with Moore, getting this years first pick, Dexter, Wright... When you put Moore and this years first pick into it, it really was a historic draft.
I can't remember one draft I thought so highly of. Much less two, back to back. IMO Poles is killing it.
I would even say going back to 2022's draft class with a short lead time into it and without a 1st Rd pick Poles did great in grabbing Kyler Gordon, Jaquon Brisker & Braxton Jones while grabbing quantity in the late rounds & a couple backup players to fill out the roster. VJ Jr has had a rough couple year start but nobody hits on every pick. Pace had Poles handcuffed in his 1st draft and he still came away with three solid starters that continue to develop.

Claypool wasn’t the only lost dog he took in. There was a whole string of other lost WR dogs, $6 million for Leatherwood, Justin Jones, overpaid for Edmonds, V. Jone, etc. He’s been incredibly lucky with the Panthers deal, but I’m happy to be here. As I said before, I’ll join the Poles bandwagon when he produces a Super Bowl ready team. Warren seems to be on the same page as me.

Lotta people criticized him for drafting Gordon and Brisker. Lotta people complained he passed on Pickens -- who while talented is also a head case.

You seem to not understand what a teardown is.
It's been explained many times so can't help you.
Dead horse. It’s his team now. Time to produce. Clock is ticking.

That was then, this is now. Poles has stuck with his plan. His best laid plans will largely hinge on if Williams can live up to his hype. I could've added UDFA Jack Sanborn & Jaylon Jones to Poles first draft.

"Luck is the residue of design"
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" - there is a lot of truth to that saying. A solid sports GM sets the team up for a lot of these good outcomes to happen. Doesn't mean they will happen. But the table gets set so it can happen. There is a lot of hard work involved by talented people. It sure sounds like the Bears organization has these kind of people in place now. They can not only set the table for good luck, but also can minimize the harm done by the unexpected "bad luck" stuff that hits an organization (have a plan B type of thing).
