Thoughts on the Bears at this point

While thinking is always dangerous, I thought I would do it anyway
I was thinking about how this draft went this year and was thinking about how it could have been any better. I mean it was a home run.
So I was thinking back to any recent draft that I thought we had done as well. Now, every one of these guys including Williams could be a bust, but not too many people including myself think so. And we had previous drafts we were excited about like when we drafted Trubisky and when we saw what Fields could do on the field. But the excitement was pretty much centered on one position. This time around, I just like the whole draft. And we only had 4 picks. Yes, he turned it into 5 but the point is that on a 4 pick draft we rated one of the highest in the league.
So, for me, this is one of the best drafts I can remember.
Then I go back to last year. It was maybe one of the historic draft hauls with Moore, getting this years first pick, Dexter, Wright... When you put Moore and this years first pick into it, it really was a historic draft.
I can't remember one draft I thought so highly of. Much less two, back to back. IMO Poles is killing it
And you guys know me. I am not just a mindless fanboy (ok, maybe the first part is true). I don't just go giddy and get super positive on too much. I try to keep it balanced. As a matter of fact, I have been criticized when I do. So my point in all this is that this time it really does seem different. I think Poles and Cunningham are the X-factor and they have been transforming the Bears. Some on the board criticized Poles for nuking the team, but I always felt it was the right way to go. No one had the stones to do it as thoroughly as he had previously, but the CAP was a mess and he just had to do it. Some decisions like the Fields vs Williams and keeping Flus are still to be determined, but he has not had too many missteps, so I am not going to second guess him.
In the immortal words of Lovie Smith, "I like where we're at". Where he used to say it while standing in the Alamo with a straight face, I think this time it's true.
