I liked that video.
I remember reading about Kiran Amegadjie now... after the draft it began coming back to me. He was seen as an "under the radar" guy who could end up being a steal for the Bears. The Bears invited him to a pre-draft visit, so he's been on their radar for awhile now.
I loved listening to Poles describe last night why they like this kid. His floor is seen as being a quality swing tackle in 2024. And he is going to be challenging Braxton Jones for a starting LT job, but with the idea he won't win that one as a rookie. It's not that they don't like Brax. They do like him and his improvement and his play. But they like quality competition on the OL. To quote Poles:
"If that means competing to start this year or next year, that’s great. But if he ends up just being another really good offensive lineman, you can’t have enough."
Love that. But we need to get this kid a nickname... his name is beyond my ability to pronounce
I think he has the potential to be a very solid starting OT in the NFL. We'll have to see. But it could be that we will have much better OL depth that we had last year. WE will still need to watch the development of Jones, Amegadjie, etc. And I am sure Poles will be active on it all the way through to the 2025 draft cycle. But we coule have the freedom to have the next draft cycle focused on finishing off all the remaining issues with the defense.
About the pre-draft visit, both Amegadjie and Poles have mentioned a chance encounter between a Bears personnel/draft executive and the young man at O'Hare airport over the last 6 - 9 months. I only mention it because both Amegadjie have talked about it, more than once. SO I am curious as to what transpired during that meeting. It as a short-term thing as the young man had gone to the wrong gate for his departure and was in somewhat of a hurry to make his flight. But my gut is telling me there is a story in what transpired.
