I don't have a direct line to the Steelers like you do. I thought maybe since they had 2 QBs, they would see which one is better. Although, I do like the idea of Fields sitting behind Wilson for a little bit.
Lol, let's keep living in the clouds. Fields value is a backup. I've told many here many times. His reads are bad and he is late when it comes to throwing to his guys. He rather run the ball than throw.
Yes, you have. I just don't agree with you. I am open to it if I see him play and fail in Pittsburgh, but until then, I will keep "living in the clouds". He will probably be a backup to Wilson, but might be rolled out for certain plays. But Wilson is not who he was and they do not have a lot invested in him. It is possible that if Fields outplays him, he would be a starter.

It is possible and maybe its competition. The fact that we got such a low pick shows us his value in the NFL. No GM/HC/OC wants him as a starter. They saw the same tape we did. He's not a starting QB.
You have to be a passer in the NFL. Total offense is meaningless.
Poles would of been an idiot to pass up on Williams with the #1 overall pick. I have a strange feeling we're going Oline with our second first round pick. If that's a tackle or trading down for a center. We're building a real team around Williams.
1 is the only thing that matters, a 3 year starting qb that is unproven has no actual value. If he was any good 1 the Bears wouldn't be trading for him, and 2 the 20+ qb needy teams would have traded for him to be the starter. None did. The NFL is screaming at you what Fields is, and some just refuse to believe it.
The Bears have #1 pick with opportunity to draft immortal generational QB. Poles basically said it himself. They would not be virtually giving away Fields if all they had is the #9 pick. Poles got an earlier offer from the Eagles, but got greedy, then panicked as all the veterans signed with other teams. He set his price too high and then waited til only one or two trading partners remained. Fields is a better QB than Pickett, Darnold, Minshew. The other footnote to my #1 is that a GM would have to make decision in May about 5th yr. option. As I said on another thread, that would give the GM TWO ways to look like an idiot a year from now.
Do you have actual evidence of this? Do you know what that offer was?

Dan Garanziano said on ESPN Sportscenter that he talked to “several sources around the league” that Eagles tried to get Fields before they settled for Pickett. Fields would be the perfect backup for Hurts. I don’t know exactly what they offered, but they paid a 3rd and a 7th for Pickett. I gotta believe they offered at LEAST that for Fields. The problem with Poles is that he sets his own mind on what a player is worth and doesn’t move until it’s too late. I think that’s what happened here, but we’ll probably never get the full story.

Are you sure? Maybe they offered a lower pick than the Steelers. Fields market has been determined.

They tried to get Fields before they settled for Pickett, so it’s logical to assume they were willing to pay at least as much, if not more, for Fields than they paid for Pickett. Use your brain. I’m going to bed.

I'd have to agree that this does seem to be the case.

Again the market has been determined. Fields is a backup 6th rounder to 4th rounder at best.
So much for build a super team around Fields. He's not even a starter in the NFL anymore. We wasted two first round picks thanks to Pace on Fields.
It hurts every time our quarterback fails here in Chicago. We can’t change the past. But we can focus on stopping these failures and (finally) build an offensive here. It begins with doing everything reasonably possible to support the new kid. Put the best OL in front of the kid. I think that is “job-1” and will allow this new guy to learn and develop properly - and succeed. Let’s not go through any more of this crap.
Well, it's over. Can't say I agree with it. Certainly think we got shortchanged. But what surprised me the most was the timing. Now everybody knows we're using #1, no more smoke and mirrors. But the best thing is no more beating of decayed horse carcasses.
There is still the carcass and it is a huge one that is C.Will. Is he able to handle the NFL, does he want to play in Chicago? Will his dad bring in a family circus?
