Sacrilege, I know. I'm sure there is no shred of truth in either of them and may both develop serious cases of genital crabs. I hope I don't get banned for posting these.
Is it ok to post this here? Hope this guy doesn't get death threats
LOL, he is probably already in a shallow unmarked grave as we speak
It's hard to know what to believe. I just go by my own eyes and Swift looks (to me) like Monte with another gear of speed that DM did not have. Not knocking Monty because he was a rock solid RB. I think he is a really solid person as well as solid player. Swift just looks like a guy who can kick in that speedier gear to get to the edge, as well as run between the tackles. I noticed that his 2023 stats had him exactly the same as Monte in yards per attempt (4.6ypa). Neither is an elite player. Both are pretty solid all the same.
I do believe that the defense and the running game can be a help to a young rookie quarterback like Caleb Williams. So I'm fine with the Bears adding another guy to the RB committee.

I wasn't a big fan of the move. I think we significantly overpaid. Not sure if he is even an upgrade from what we already have.

Kind of where I have been at also. I mean, in the end it's not a big deal. I don't think we lost anything (at least I hope not). Just not sure we gained anything either (but I hope so). I agree that all we accomplished is spend more for about the same thing. But it's not a biggie in the end. It did hurt to lose Monty so glad we think we have a replacement.

I wasn't a big fan either. Just draft a RB on Day 3 every year. You shouldn't have to ever buy one in FA.

I'm surprised they apparently have given up on Herbert and Johnson after 1 season. Wasn't a big fan either of the signing.
I'll bet they still like going into this season with Herbert and RoJo. Maybe they just recognized they made a mistake letting Monty go and Swift is a similar piece to go with the guys they already have. If one guy gets injured they still have some talent at RB. Not elite by any means but enough that you don't have a critical problem. LOL, but I have no real clue.
This is good value compared to what a guy like Saquan will get, and he helps in the receiving game probably as much as Barkley would have. Barkley will probably get $12 mill plus.
I'm beginning to get it, that Poles is all about "bang for the buck" acquisitions. He is not at either extreme, (he's not cheap but not throwing away a lot of money, spending like a drunk sailor). He is on record saying this season's goal is to make the playoffs. While I think it's too early to know how good the team will actually perform, I gotta admit I like the overall roster moves so far - obviously the draft is the main act this year. But don't you feel pretty positive about the direction of the team so far? I'd love to be a bug on the wall at Halas Hall and be able to listen in on the entire plan for 2024.
Bears get Swift and Packers get Josh Jacobs. That’s a net negative.

For the Packers, right? Jacobs is not a good receiving RB. He averages a full yard less per attempt than Swift (3.5ypa vs 4.6ypa). Swift had well over 1,000 yards rushing last year and Jacobs wasn't even close to breaking 1k (and he had more carries than Swift.

That whole Raiders team was in turmoil last year. Worst year of his career. Still would have had 1,000 (4th time) if not injured for last month of the season. The previous year he was first team All Pro and lead the NFL in rushing. If healthy, he is going to be a BIG F’ing problem when he gets with the Packers offense. I guarantee you Packers would not trade him for Swift. I wouldn’t, either. Net negative.
