I'm beginning to get it, that Poles is all about "bang for the buck" acquisitions. He is not at either extreme, (he's not cheap but not throwing away a lot of money, spending like a drunk sailor). He is on record saying this season's goal is to make the playoffs. While I think it's too early to know how good the team will actually perform, I gotta admit I like the overall roster moves so far - obviously the draft is the main act this year. But don't you feel pretty positive about the direction of the team so far? I'd love to be a bug on the wall at Halas Hall and be able to listen in on the entire plan for 2024.
We don’t know yet what Barkley or Jacobs will get. It might be within $2M of what Swift is getting. But you are right. Bates, Byard, and Swift have one thing in common.
Looks like Barkley is going to average $12.58M/yr with a chance to make $15.83/yr with incentives.

In that case im taking Swift with 8 in a blink of an eye
listening to chgo, i think i'm going w/Hogie on this one. At this cost the Bears might as well have kept Monty, which was my first thought b/c didn't realize Monty was cheaper. One thing I do like about Poles, all Gm's are going to make mistakes, he quickly realizes his mistake and changes course.
Swift is Monty lite, but at least he's better than what they have, didn't cost Barkley like money, and gets them 1-2 years down the road when they can look to draft another mid rd RB.

How do we know Monty wanted to stay? Maybe he wanted to go to a 'contender'? Just spitballin
