You do. That's how I read your posts (over and over and over again). You ignore the fact that there are 10 men on offense IN ADDITION TO the QB and yes, you need them to win games. It is a team sport. The QB is a critically important piece, but without the rest of the offense it's like a nice car that doesn't have an engine, tires or fuel - you are not going anywhere.
No, I know all players contribute to any win or loss, but they don’t all comtribute EQUALLY. I don’t always vote “ the whole offense” or “the whole defense” in awarding the deflated football in our poll. But when one guy stands out and makes MULTIPLE screw-ups at critical points in the game, damn right he gets my vote and I will say those plays were a huge factor in determining the game. Before butkus jumps in and says I can’t KNOW that with God’s CERTAINTY, I will say that a CB who allows a critical TD and multiple 3rd down conversions is normally a good candidate. Sometimes, you can find another player who screwed up even worse, to kinda take him off the hook. But when I predict Stevenson will cost us one or two games this season I mean “but for his performance in this game, Bears very likely would have won.”

+1 Hey, my apology on this one, David. That post wasn't even meant for you. I thought it was one more post from MOTM about the QB being the end-all everything. I've read so many of those that my head (seriously) hurts reading them anymore. LOL I quickly glanced at your post and 'reacted' not realizing it was from you. Your points in that follow up are valid. I'm not disagreeing - we do all agree on the importance of the QB. It is the most difficult piece to get right too. My only point with MOTM (not you) is that a great offense also depends upon the entire offense being good - and I know you believe that too. This is why we want to see a stud WR added this year and the OL fixed.

Mel Kiper in his 2.0 draft video on YouTube made your point using Giants Mac Jones as example. He had a good supporting cast his rookie year and played well. He had crap for support last year and naturally struggled. He didn’t just suddenly forget how to play football!

+1 Personally, after so many struggles to build a good offense here in Chicago, I want the Bears to pull out all of the stops to finally get it done. Hopefully they will do everything they can to support the QB now. I get so tired of some folks pointing out how a QB did well with poor surrounding talent. But let's not try that scenario again. Roll with the best QB you can - and also build the supporting talent on offense too. Both. Having a good QB and supporting talent are not mutually exclusive. You can (and should) strive to do both. It won't be perfect, but at least have a decent baseline of QB and supporting talent. Both. That's my take on it and I think it is yours too. LOL, again, that earlier post was not directed at you... I need to take a second before I click on things on this laptop :-)

You mean Daniel Jones. And DJ isn't a good QB. He's a backup-caliber QB who had one really good year (like Trubisky did in 2018).
NYG were stupid to pay him and now regret it. No one "ruined" him.

You missed the point. Kiper is talking the DIFFERENCE it made having good support vs. poor support. You and motm love quoting stats. Go compare his 2022 stats to his 2023 stats. As I said, he didn’t suddenly forget how to play football.

I await your breakdown of those plays showing how the other 10 defenders did everything absolutely right on the play and he was the only one who screwed up.

The job gets harder when other guys screw up. More than one guy can screw up on the same play. That doesn’t excuse him for not doing his. That’s one of the differences between a great CB and an average CB.

You ever think defenses might adjust year to year?
They certainly figured out Nagy/Trubisky after 2018. The O was never the same afterwards,
They certainly figured out how to not let Fields run wild too.
Come on--thought we were done beating this horse. Yes, EVERY QB EVER BORN tends to play better with better team support. No one seriously disputes that. Are you trying to suggest yet again that somehow Fields will magically become a top-10 passer if only he had a different situation?
Cuz no other NFL team seems interested in him at all. And it shouldn't be hard to exceed the Bears at QB development.

I am pointing out that the support made a significant difference for Jones, and it’s absurd to think the additions I want wouldn’t make a difference for Fields. I agree with butkus that a good WR (Moore) can produce at Pro Bowl level when playing with Fields. No reason to believe that Harrison wouldn’t do the same. And that even before we get into fixing the interior OL and hiring a competent OC. Sorry the dead horse slipped in….
