We disagree on this. I think we need a receiving threat more than we need JPJ over another top C. If we have used the first pick on a QB, then IMO, we HAVE to use that next pick on a receiving threat. MHJ is a no brainer, but I don't think he will be there. So then it will be whoever the Bears think will be the best threat in receiving the ball. Do we desperately need a C? Absolutely. But I'd be ok with one in the 2nd. There are other good centers. We SHOULD have a second round pick if we trade JF. But what I think and will happen are not connected. That's why I don't even screw with mocks. What actually happens is the only thing that counts.
For sure
WR is way more important.
Bears don't have to have JPJ to fix C. There's other good draft prospects there plus a few vet FAs.
Especially since the FA WRs who will actually hit the market this year are not that impressive. For perspective, "The Athletic" has Mooney as the 2nd best FA who will hit the market (LINK). FWIW, I don't agree with their ranking him that high... but I use that as an example. This is the draft to get a great WR to pair with DJ Moore. But regarding centers, I do like Cushenberry in FA - and also there are 3 or 4 exceptional centers in this draft too. Frazier and Van Pran are exceptional talents who would fit our offense well. Those guys will be available to draft in the 2nd round, and I expect us to have at least one 2nd round pick when Poles moves around in this draft.

Trading Fields nets us a 2nd round pick. Heck we might get a late 1st with Pit.
Sorry, I can’t equate Bowers with Nabers/Odunze. I believe JPJ would be a larger help to the offense
That’s fine. I will equate for you
They each had about 900 more yards than him. Go ahead and equate that, if all we are talking about is drafting a receiver WR/TE. I can get a WR in second round to match his receiving production. If he were a great all-round TE like Gronk, you could make a case on that basis, but as butkus says, he’s not that kind of TE who can block. You could also make a case if we didn’t already have a quality TE Kmet to cover the TE position and a huge hole at center with a great prospect (JPJ) to fill it.
