We should have a good idea of what we've got by then. My point is that the team probably won't be SB ready in 2025. In other words no SB that 2025 season.
And my point is that if we aren’t Super Bowl ready in 2025 — or sniffing distance close — it’s not likely in 2026, either, so I’m holding you to your own new goal post — 2026 — with no more allowances for “resets”. Agree?
Yes. Hold me to it :-)
If by chance the Bears keep Justin Fields I am still on the 2025 timeline. Even with the other factors of change, I do believe the continuity of Fields at QB1, (even with new coaches and scheme) results in a 2025 team ready roll as one of the best in the league. You've probably picked up by now that I'm from that camp that rookies are usually up-and-down as they transition to the NFL. A rookie QB in 2024 may be the right way to go long-term. And it could even be a Stroud type instant turnaround too. But I do believe that is an exception to the rule there in Houston.

I agree that Stroud, Montana, Brady are the exceptions. But I also believe — with few exceptions — that an elite QB will show his colors by the second year. The exceptions are mostly when he’s thrown into an impossible situation not unlike Fields.
It is interesting to see how the outside world rates the Bears. Are they wrong, or are we delusional? Go Google “nfl power rankings 2024” for a sobering experience… The Athletic, PFF, ESPN,, or any others. Everybody has the Bears way behind the Lions and Packers. Maybe they are just projecting 2023 standings into 2024.
Surely, having #1 and #9 is going to get us into 10-12 wins, assuming we can split with the Lions and Packers. I think 2024 comes down to how we stack up with them, and that’s TBD.
Ok not trying to troll but just give you some realism. Please note I am high on the bears given their nucleus and cap space. I am higher on them in the future than the Vikings. But... Don't you think you should be ranked behind two teams that made it deep into the playoffs(divisional round and NFCCG)? It appears the Bears are going to move on from Fields. So they will have a rookie QB this season. There is NO guarantees he will light it up his rookie year. And very few first rounders/rookies propel their team into the playoffs year one. Can you win the division next year? Yes. But things have to fall into place and projections don't take that into account. I like the future for the Bears but don't let the numbers 1 and 9 set unreasonable expectations.

Saw some rankin us way behind Vikes.. Cant see that tbh
I could see it if they have Cousin's healthy. That defense is for real.
We might not overtake Lions and Packers in 2024, but Poles has to deliver the goods (Super Bowl ready by 2025). That’s my bottom line.
I know. That was my point.
If Williams is the real deal... The Bears will be in cheat code mode. Meaning you have a good performing quarterback with a cheap contract and can build a powerhouse around him. It is the super bowl cheat code. While I do think you have a higher ability to hit on a QB that sits a few years, you lose access to that SB cheat code. GB for instance will have to give Love 50 mil/year after May 1st.

And the Bears have so much change that goes beyond having a rookie QB. It can be good change, but it is still a factor for this year. The Bears had 30 new/young players signed last year and will undoubtedly have a number of key changes this year on offense - in addition to the rookie QB. New coaches, players, scemes... I think we need to understand there there is a "one step back and two steps forward thing" going on here. But I do think 2025 and 2026 could be great years if the Bears make the right choices this year (obviously QB1 is one of the most important ones).

What is crazy is that next year (2025) we have literally zero high impact FAs on our team, no big contracts to give. So we NEED to take advantage of 2024 and 2025, and get mighty close to a contender.

You should be preaching this to JABF. I posted these rankings just to point out that the rest of the football world has a somewhat less optimistic crystal ball.

I see 2024 as the year the team gets a lot better as far as players and coaching staff. But that might not translate into a great change in wins or even much change in our final NFCN finish this year. It could. I just think the team probably won't get bigtime traction until 2025 and 2026. Yeah, 2024 is the year to let all of these young people and new coaches get settled in together - could be a massive upgrade this year but it might not translate to a first year division title - I'd be shocked if it did.

Okay, that’s a very safe, cautious projection. If Bears don’t win at least 10 games in 2024, people will start to question whether Williams is “the guy”.
