Warren actually has me semi convinced he wants to stay on the lakefront. The way he talks about loving the city and him living there and wanting the stadium to stay there.... He talks a good game. But financially, I still think using the land they own makes the most sense.
All political posturing for leverage with the AH crowd.
Bears want to OWN their stadium and land and have a year-round facility complete with hotels and restaurants which can host concerts, SBs, Final 4s, conventions, etc.
There's no room or land for sale or transportation access to accommodate a lakefront site. SF and the surrounding area is beautiful scenically in Sept/Oct but otherwise completely sucks. And I say that as a STH who's gone to games there for many years. The access is terrible and the site is cramped with no creature comforts less than a 1.5 mile walk away.
And can U imagine the cost overruns and delays that would come with a city site? The graft and red tape are way worse in the city than the suburbs and the Cook County suburbs are no picnic there.
I can tell you all from a tourist perception, SF is a facktard to get into. My Wife and I went their TWICE in one weekend. Once at night and we took the quick way there, that underground tunnel through Grant park which I was told after the fact that is NOT how and where you wanna be walkin.
The second time we took transit and had to run across traffic, around barriers and blindly hope the person in front of us knew where they were going.
I understand about wanting to be in the city with all other sites BUT if you are going to see the Bears play. You most likely will be going through ChiTown anyways. Those sites will still be there afterwards.

So true. The access SUCKS (and is getting more unsafe as well). It's a chore to get there and get out of there.
Last I checked, smart businesses want to make it convenient and easy for their customers to patronize their product, not difficult.

And to be honest, I'm not going to complain if I'm sitting in a warm seat watching the Bears play. I know folks like the idea of old school football played in the winter cold. But I've gone to those games where it was simply torture to endure watching the game at SF. If we go to a dome, well so be it. Welcome to the 21st century.

I would love to sit through one of those games just to say I did. But to actually do that......Well that is just silly as I get older lol, Hats off to all you fans that still do that.
A dome is the way to go especially if those of us who have a Wife or significant other that refuses to feel a cool draft.

All is not lost Whiskey. You could always ask for arctic air to be piped into your seat.
