Sweaty Teddys last legacy. Does a deal with a municipality without tax guarantees. What a shrewd businessman. Hopefully Kevin can clean this mess up. At the least they have lost time. And maybe a lot of money too.
I keep wondering if the Bears will get some adjustment to the tax evaluation. Maybe somewhere in the middle of what they want, and what the present evaluation is.
Arlington Heights might have hardballed themselves to death. Warren seems to really love the city. He lives there. Of course, Teddy might have also screwed the Bears for years. AH does not HAVE to change their valuation. Whether or not the Bears go there. So the Bears have knocked down the grandstands to bring down the valuation. AH shrugged and said so what. If the Bears don't go there, they may be stuck with a financial drain for years paying them high taxes on a property just sitting there. And now it has no grandstands, and high taxes. Who would want to buy that? Kind of caught in a trap. That's why I said Teds final legacy. He was good at some stuff, but a businessman, he wasn't.

I almost reached out to you this past week because I was in Houston. But I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law, and I wanted to spend all the time I could with my first grandchild there. LOL, I got some rust knocked off my diaper-changing skills that were 30 years old :-)

I would really like to see Warren start talking with localities in NW Indiana. Not that I personally would like the Bears to move there. Simply to put the pressure on all governmental bodies form the Springfield State House down through the state legislature and all the way down to the county and city/village level. This may be the only way for Warren to hit the reset button.
Stupid decisions by both the owners as well as local governments are the ingredients for an eventual sale/move of a franchise to another city/state.
The team’s attorney argued at a Cook County Board of Review hearing that the property should be valued at $60 million and taxed at the 10% rate for residential and vacant land, due to the work done to demolish the existing structures on the site

The three school districts. are crapping the bed, but they have the Bears right where they want them. Unless the courts adjust the evaluation, while the Bears own the property, they get their revenue. Whether or not the Bears do anything with the property. So they don't care. But they should. What the Bears could bring to the community is huge. Very short sighted. A real shock for government to be short sighted.
