I know this is off topic but I think this is interesting:
Reason the owners don't do it is that it makes them no money. Doesn't add anything to the bottom line today. Its short sighted, because in the long run betters QBs across more teams makes more games watchable which mean more money when they sell streaming rights to Peacock/Prime/Hulu/Netflix/Facebook/Twitter/Youtube........
Anyway, off topic.
+1 LOL, though... when are we "on" topic here on the messageboard :-) These conversations wander everywhere. Kind of like shooting the bull at the local pub. I do like it though. I've thought countless times how much I appreciate AlexM getting the idea of having a chill Bears forum and creating this board.

Well since this is the bait and switch thread...
There are a few things I think the owners could do to improve the product AND make more money if they weren't so focused on the bottom line of TODAY.
(1) Work out with the NFLPA a way for 3rd string or developmental QBs to have more contact with coaching staff during the offseason. Designate 2 QBs (set a definite line of who would be eligble: like under 3 years on a roster/PS, less than 100 total snaps taken or no more than 4 starts) and a handful of skill position players (again WR/TE/RBs who have taken less than 100 non-ST snaps for example) who can train at the teams facility under the supervision of the OC and QB/WR coach. Same contract--nothing changes there. Might be able to get a guy reps and training experience that can help develop QBs. Might be open to all rookie QBs.
(2) Work out a limited transfer agreement with CFL/USFL for 1-2 players per NFL team that can play in the CFL/USFL to gain in game experience.
(3) Fix reffing. I don't know how, just follow best practices from other leagues.
(4) Seriously work with players, coaches and refs about the rule book. Some stuff has to go.
I don't have answers to whatever objections people might have so I'm no arguing with anyone about this. Don't ask for a line by line defense of these. I'm more interested in this than the Fields: Yay or Nay or "Who's going to call the plays for DEF" or "Everyone the Bears hired is wrong and everyone they didn't hire is going to be a HOF/GOAT coach."

this fits perfectly with our theme of not having a topic

Its one of my favorite things about this board. We all talk like we're at the local spot...shooting the shit. We agree...we disagree...sometimes intensely...but we show up the next day and have the proverbial beer together and do it again with no hard feelings.

TBH boys im very glad I have you all here. And im grateful for each and every one of you. And a lot of you are here since day 1, which is a pretty long time now, especially considering Bears period. We went thru Trestman, Fox and Nagy together... And every new member is welcomed with open arms, welcome to join our band.
In the meantime my personal life turned into a living nightmare that wont quit, and I can always turn to you, which I very much appreciate. And need.
One of the best online moves I ever made was to recognize the moment on our old board, recognize that I have only a fraction of time to act, or all of us will be lost forever, our connections would fade.
Now we are here to stay, this place, forever, if I will have any say.
