You have to wait and see how he finishes the season. If he proves himself to be worth keeping and using next year then you offer him a minimum contract for a couple years. He's most likely only going to be a back up so he should only be paid that. The guy couldn't even make it as back up for any other team in the league so you can't pay him much.
Yell ya if PFF has him graded high enough you have to offer him a good contract, until we know what PFF knows how can you make a decision right?
and remember pff is just short for pffffffffffffffffffffffffft
What is your deal with PFF lately? Never mind, I read your response to it already.
I don't think anyone treats PFF as the definitive answer for player grades but there really are not many other sites doing it. It's at least nice to have something to rate players on.

Oh there's at least 1 that treats it that way. The problem is that it's grading mechanic is flawed, as seen by Shea being the best DE on the Bears his rookie year over a guy like Peppersb/c of "disruptions" and Webb being a better OT then Bushrod. Nothing wrong w/looking at PFF for funzies, but it's hardly the end all be all, and really only good for the teams since they can sort through the good and bad w/the information only they have.
I guarantee you, while fans debated Shea's rookie year and some used PFF for validation that it was a good year, the Bears weren't fooled one bit by PFF's grade; nor was anyone in the NFL believing that Bushrod was worse at OT then Webb, but some fans actually bought that b/c PFF graded it so.

How would you guys rate Barkley if he would have been drafted instead of Bullard in round 3 this year? Would you be impressed with it? How much would the judgement look different? How much better do you think would a vet Free Agent look that was a starter in the past?
I don't think Barkley has done bad, Welp, I really think he has done pretty well.

+1 Or if he had been drafted in the 1st round as he would have been if he had gone into the draft from USC his junior year. At one point he was projected (according to ESPN's brain trust) as being the #1 pick of the entire NFL draft. Instead he plays his senior year, gets a shoulder injury and falls to the 4th round.

I don't know. I may be wrong.
No he was very highly touted at one point , so ur not wrong . Like I said b4 alot of how sucessful any player turns out to be , depends aLOT on how much time a coaching staff invests in him ( especially w QB's ) . If you have the tools and they put the time in , you probably do well - if ur an afterthought , well then good luck . Ain't exactly fair is it ? but when you luck into a 'chance' then u better make the most of it . So far Barkley has run with his chance fairly well , but guys like him have to keep doing well cuz they have a short leash , cuz no ones totally 'sold' on him yet . He's built up a little street cred with the Bears . He'd be a fool to sign somewhere else .

There is more then one QB that was drafted in the later round that are or will someday will be in the HOF
